Battle of the android... phones

Have a galaxy S2 and like it fine... however next year probably going to upgrade all our phones.

My kneejerk is to stick with Samsung... guessing the galaxy 4 would be a nice upgrade and last years model so I could get a good deal.

Always liked the look of the HTC though.

Any other androids I should look at?

Also interested in the Nokia windows phone.

Google Nexus, or Oneplus One...

Both unlocked, can be used with any carrier (except maybe Verizon)

Can't say anything about the Nokia/windows option..

I just jumped from Verizon, got a Google Nexus 5 and a prepaid unlimited talk/3Gb data for $45/Mo... Cricket = Att

The Nexus 5 is an impressive bit of hardware..

Ok I'm off to check out the Nexus, thanks
Edit: Does the Nexus go under any other name(s) thinking of moving to a prepaid plan and don't see a Nexus listed at the providers website I'm considering. Currently with T-Mobile and they do carry the Nexus.

I have a galaxy 3 and my wife has a Moto-X and if I had to change units I would seriously look at a Motorola. I have had a few and they are solid units.

I've had a few HTC phones and have been very happy with them. I believe the Nexus phones are also very nice, and would be happy to have one. I think Samsung makes a good phone, but I want to avoid the bloatware that they add.

If you get something like a Google Nexus 5 it is a pure Android OS....the Oneplus uses a derivatives of the Android OS... really for geeks who want to play with things..

Phones you get from Sprint, TMobile, Att, Verizon are full of bloatware...

You're the only person I've ever seen to write that they prefer a Motorola over anything. Including a can and string.

I'm waiting for the Nexus 6 to drop (even though it will almost certainly be a Motorola product). I'm using a Galaxy Note 2 now. I bought it the day of launch 2 years ago this month. While I like it, I never use the stylus, hate the extra bloatware Samsung puts on it, and I'm not overly thrilled by the extensive use of plastics on it.

Prior to this phone, I had an OG EVO 4G. Fantastic phone with excellent build quality. I'm also waiting to see if HTC puts a nice 5.5"+ unit out. Once BlinkFeed is out of the way, I'd imagine anything up to current hardware standards from them will be very nice.

I tend to buy the absolute best phone available when I start shopping, and keep each for 1.5-2 years. As a phone/tech nerd, at least I can root them and still have bragging rights about something for at least a year.

I'm not sure any retailer carries the Nexus. Buy it unlocked direct from Google at Play.google.com .

The new Nexus 6 is going to be really large with a 6" screen. Way too big for me plus the 6 remains a 32 bit product. It will receive the Android L OS so for me, the Nexus 5 is the best way to go.

-I'm on a Samsung Galaxy3, which has performed flawlessly, leaving me no reason to "upgrade"
-Daughter is on a Samsung Galaxy5 and loves it
-Son is on a Nexus 5 (after switching from iPhone 4S) and is very happy to have left Apple

I like my Nexus, but I have a warranty claim out because most of the screen shows only every other row of pixels. It's still been otherwise decent.

I have the s4 active (waterproof). Dropped it too many times to count. Sides are all dinged up but the screen is perfect. (I don't use screen protectors/cases). Had it over a year. Averaging 10k texts a month.... (don't judge)

I like Androids; have had several. Samsung generally makes a good phone. I liked the Galaxy line, but they're getting a wee bit too big for me. Just upgraded my phone a few weeks ago. I was torn between the S5 and the new LG G3. Very comparible phones, but the LG is just a smidge smaller, so it won.

My MotoX is my first phone, and I got it because it plays well with others (it does what *I* want it to do) instead of making you the consumer follow it like a little dog (buy expensive phone, deal with vagaries of phone, wait 24 months, repeat).

I will be buying the new MotoX, and my Moto 360 arrives tomorrow. The only thing that upsets me is that the new MotoX won't be on Sprint, so I can't join my wife's plan.

I moved from Android to WP8 - Nokia Lumia 920. The hardware is top notch and the basic OS is very well done. If you are into social media then you will be good to go right out of the box. If you are a heavy user of 3rd party apps then you will be disappointed. The Win store is nowhere as complete as Apple/Android and some of the apps I downloaded were not as reliable. My 920 phone took great pictures when new but I after updates from Win and Nokia for whatever reason the pictures really suffered. I have a friend who runs a Nokia 1020 phone and he loves it. His photos and videos are stunning. I dropped my 920 dozens of times over the years without issue until just a few months ago it left the table and hit our tile floor. Screen was devastated.

I'm not sure I would go back to WP or not. I reverted to an old Android phone, Samsung Captivate, for a while to sort things out. Runs really slow now - can't keep up with the newer apps and services that require better hardware.

The OnePlus One looks interesting. My biggest pet peeve with Android is all the bloatware that the service and handset providers throw on. The OnePlus runs a custom ROM out of the box with no bloat. Very clean and ready for whatever you want.
