I picked up a Werner bent shaft carbon paddle when I was in the boat frequently.
The bent shaft really took some of the strain off my elbows.
Probably didn't hurt that it was considerably lighter than my first paddle.

Also a big blade on the paddle requires a lot of muscle to move it through the water. Don't buy a paddle that Hercules would have trouble utilizing....

Carbon fiber paddles $475!!! I need the workout. I think I can find a nice fiberglass compromise for $250. The CF models sure are sexy though.

No. I went to look this afternoon. Somebody botched in a fiberglass front skegg about 8" deep, along with a homemade rudder system. It was missing a lot of hardware and the seat was a mess. The seller knew absolutely nothing about it. I passed. I'm going to start shopping a new one tomorrow.

A Friend recommended one of these...Any thoughts.

Craig, if you are paddling alone (which I don't recommend on the ocean) think about being able to get the boat on and off your truck/car by yourself, it can be quite a chore.

I think the pepper can support 165lbs so you won't have an issue. I have two Necky tandems that I roofed on my Cayenne without any issues, great for taking the kids, but the rear seat also slides to the middle for solo paddling, great for all world. 16' 75lbs

Don't know where I was then but I'm here now. Between the body shop and the kayak business it's like having two full time jobs.

I did some Kayaking in Maui and Kona. Preferred the sit in type.

Great white? My wife would get ZERO satisfaction out of that. She's been *****ing for 20 years; "you're going to get killed surfing big waves"...you're going to get killed on that motorcycle"..."you're going to die in that race car"..."that hot rod will kill you"...blah blah blah. She'd never think to ***** about a shark attack.

Or... If you just want to get out on the water and have your own space on the glistening ocean; get out there on a stand up paddleboard.

I get out on the water every chance I get on mine, and much prefer it to kayak/canoes. They are easier to lift onto car roofs, easier to squeak into small places in the garage, they surf waves really well. I've even done white water paddleboarding :)

Through the winter I didn't wear a wetsuit, I just hoped I wouldn't fall in :D And I got that wrong a few times - half the fun.
