Thank God I got a better job & don't have to pour & finish any longer. We never tipped drivers, but some of them were quite helpful. We were usually under manned, so some helped us get it down & flat so they could leave sooner. The worst driver I ever had was a female.

I mostly agree that the tipping thing is out of hand. I don't hand out money to pan handlers, but always try to help out the working poor with good gratuities. I remember what it's like to make $10 an hour.

I think this derailed a bit when service (food) jobs were brought into the mix. Those folks work for tips and having spent many years in that field I am happy to tip well for great service. Automatic gratuity is great for large parties. Back in my day it was not uncommon for a team of waiters/bussers and supporting staff (bartender me) to work a party of 30+ for many hours only to get stiffed by the cheeze ball who paid the $3K+ tab on his gold card. I'm talking ZERO tip. That especially hurts when the tax man assumes you make 12% tip on your sales as reported by the house...

I don't consider concrete, plumber, electrical, etc... to be tipped positions. Hopefully they make more than minimum wage.

Since its tradition, I play and along and tip servers and the guy that opens your door at vegas or the guy the hands you the towel in the men's room. No tip for other service folks like plumber, tow truck driver and especially concrete truck drivers. I know servers don't make much, and if they are good, I am happy to leave my fair share. All they have to do is to come by once or twice and ask if we need anything else.

I do commercial hvac work. I always refuse a cash tip but if I'm offered a cold drink or coffee I'll take it.
I tip the AAA driver $20 if they're careful towing the 911.

I wouldn't think of tipping a bathroom attendant. There's no part of the men's experience I need ANY help with. What a useless, make-work job that is.
