Paul-I had to put a golden down twelve years ago, and he's still with me every day, almost. I've been through a lot since, but it was still one of the hardest things I've had to do.

I've had two great dogs since, gsd's, and I love 'em all to death, but still...

Godspeed to widge, and you as well. I'm sure you're wise or experienced enough to know that the pain will mellow into a special place in your heart.

I've got two young dogs playing at my feet as I read this thread, Rika the lab and Perry the Jack Russell. They are engaged in quiet mortal combat between licks.

My hope is that they love me as much as Widgeon loved you; enjoy the 7pm walks, the water and ordinary as much as you two. Then I've got something to be proud of.
