Red Hot Exhaust
I just got my wife's 2005 Mini Cooper S back from a local muffler shop. Typically I do all my repairs but due to the fact I didn't have enough clearance to remove the exhaust manifold, I took it to the shop for them to swap. When I got it back it had an irritating whistle and from the headers down it was cherry red hot. I returned and they put another one of the same.
I suspect they put an exhaust manifold on that should be on a base model or maybe the wrong mfg date for that product on the car since both did the exact same thing. If you put an exhaust manifold with the cat attached on an S model that should be for a base model, is my suspicion true that it would cause this RED HOT issue? Also, the part ordered had the description of Magniflow New York. Is it only for Mini's in New York? PLEASE HELP! Thanks, Jcharming80 |

Have the guts of the old cat washed downstream , and plugged the muffler. That whistle you speak of has me wondering.

I have only heard of this happening once. The timing was messed up and fully advanced....
