Woman Goes to Jail for Not Mowing Lawn

yet I have had my run ins with the HOA!

The U.S. has the most incarcerated population on the planet. It never ceases to amaze me what we will put some folks in jail for, and how soon will will let some really serious offenders out. Things have fallen out of balance here - what do we need to do to restore that balance?

I don't know but I have really thought about it...I guess its because our country was started by lawyers and is run by lawyers. In principle I supposed it makes sense but actually the practice really is silly...

I just don't know of a better option.

I would live out of my car before living with a HOA. Ef no.

Yep. When I bought my house the list of requirements was simple:

1. No HOAs
2. A garage, more bays = better
3. Price needs to be less than $X
4. 2+ bedrooms

Very simple.

HOAs tend to attract people with an unhealthy interest in other peoples' business and with control issues. Best avoided at all costs.

My guess is she was being punished not for the actual lack of upkeep, but for her attitude; in the end she was quoted that she had enlisted some people to help clean it up. How about that being her first move, before it got to the legal system?

I guess push came to shove. I can see how yard work can get away from you. I should prolly trim my shrubs. I got a note last month saying that my house number was not visible and that it might make any rescue (police or fire) difficult to ID if needed.

Funny thing, all the cops know us as do half the fire dept.

I think I'll have my son cut them today. Last time he dI it he went all Rambo and brought them down to stub. Guess I should establish a specification! Maybe the HOA covenants have specifications? The doc is 89 pages long. Wish I got the freelance writing gig for that!

I did years ago but got kicked out for telling a women she was crazy and needed therapy. I was told that I wasn't a health care professional and that I had no right saying that to her. I responded to the board stating that 'if I see a guy on the side of the road with his arm cut off bleeding I don't need to be a doctor to know he's all sorts of f'd up..."

They failed to see my wisdom so I was kicked off...
