Vickers on pole, but Terry Labonte in his 890th and final start is grid ninth. He is a great guy and was always a gentleman in Nascar and could also do real well on road course races. Always liked him. Enjoy your retirement! PS: Hope you win tomorrow!

NASCAR was more interesting when the cars were distinguishable. When it's only about the personalities it's like a Jerry Springer show, and I just don't care about it.

Used to watch 'em all, now I never watch, but I do check ESPN before I go to bed to see where Biffle finished.

I'm only ever interested when someone cool like Schwantz, Lawson, Raikkonen or Montoya is racing. Is that chick still in the series?

Yes. This is the cut off for folks to move to the next chase slot. The guys at the bottom/bubble last week were the ones fighting in the paddock over BS. Talledega is a crap shoot, most guys will be working to survive the dam race. Then all hell will break loose for the last couple of laps.

I watched in college (the first go round), then was absent until the 1999 race at Texas. I was hooked, big time. An RV on the wall, just outside turn 2, it doesn't get better.
Terry LaBonte won, and Bobby 3rd. I had the NASCAR pit placards for the 5 and 18 in the front windshield of the RV all the way home. It was awesome. I saw how they qualified today, and was taken aback. It's been awhile since I've watched a race, but will probably do so tomorrow. At least the race isn't decided after qualifying. Go Terry.

It might be exciting to see a pack of V8 race machines run around in a tight parade formation for a few hours in person, but its not good TV, and I don't live near the track. Only the final few laps really count/mean anything here. I'll probably pay attention torwads the end of the race.

There's no one on this board that could do what the real men are doing right now. Even the F1 chauffeurs would squeeze out diamonds.

The days of Smokey Yunick are long gone.
If Jimmy Clark was in I would be interested . It seems as with everything everywhere people have become shallow. Little boys backed by huge dollars jumping off roofs of cars...If I wanted a circus i would go find one. The idea that they call it "stock car" is like comparing the Black bird to a Cessna. No part was ever meant for the road. They are a Mutt car manufactured far far away from Detroit in body and soul. And when just when was the last time you have seen a rear wheel drive car from Toyota? Thats another manufactured POS Detroit is not represented. However , very very cheap beer is.

It's funny because I view F1, and Indy open wheeling racing, as nothing but a bunch of pompous azzes who all came from old money, and look down their long French noses at every body below their station in life. At least NASCAR is a bunch of good ole boys who represent all the flyover states between NYC and LA.
