Went to the range today.

I hadn't been to a rifle range for about 50 years. Never used a scope before.
It took me about 20-25 rounds to walk the holes over to the bull......we started out about 6 inches to the right & maybe 2 inches low at 50 yards. I was shooting 3 round groups......not to shabby, bout 1-1.2 inches. I've always shot a filer for some reason....but it's samller than it used to be.:D

Did 2 in the bull and one on the edge and quit......my moma didn't raise no fools. Put a mag full thru the P22 and went home....it was cold & damp.

I need a spotting scope and I'll go back when the weather is nicer.
Time well spent, me thinks.

Oh, got another 525 round brick at the gun show.....wish I knew I needed the spotting scope. My 1943 USN binocks have disappeared...damn.

Back when I was your age we didn't use scopes.
We squinted real hard til it came into focus, and we were glad to do it!

Hey whatever hapepned to the moose-stang? Get that timing issue or whatever it was straightened out?

You've never been my age, aXXhole.:D

Sent that dizzy back to Pertronix. Put in another Pertronix.....a billet jobbie that is wider & taller but not an ideal fit and no mo problems...12-15 deg advance as it should be. Haven't heard back from Pertronix yet.

what caliber rifle?

J P Stein 10-22-2014 09:19 AM

My new 10/22 Ruger & my older, but unfired Walther P22.
The semi-auto 10/22 is kinda fiddly with them little levers down around the trigger.
The lever that holds the bolt open and then closes it is a piece of......over engineering. The colder ones hands get the more cussing at it goes into the operation. My semi-functional hands don't help none.

The Walther works just fine, thanks......must be a German thing.;)

Sorry, I didn't answer the question.....I hate that.
.22 cal.

The factory bolt release sucks.

Simple to install the Kidd Design replacement part which allows you to simply rack the bolt back a little to release it. Might as well add the urethane bump stop while you have it apart.
Can get both parts for $20-25

The Ruger 10/22 is a very nice rifle.
My set up is simple... Peep rear Tech-sight and Tech-sight front post.
It is Co-witnessed by a Bushnel TRS-25 3 MOA red dot.
I shoot paper targets anymore. No killing stuff.
Fun and still inexpensive to shoot compared to centerfire.

The 10/22 is really suited for the Appleseed clinics.
The clear rotary mags are nice too.

I don't kill anything I won't eat. Bout the only rifle kills in the past were Grouse....there was alot of em' East of the wall back in my hunting days but I don't see them over here on the West side. I'm kinda old to be stomping around alone in the woods to boot.
