Quarantining Arrivals from W Africa

Everyone keeps talking about banning flights into the US from W African countries affected by the current Ebola outbreak.

The idea is sound until you realize, there are not direct flights from countries affected by Ebola anywhere into the US, or Canada, or even S. America. Maybe a couple to S. America, admittedly I'm not 100% sure on that.

The idea to quarantine anyone that was in an Ebola affected country who arrives in the US has been floated.

Roughly 150 a day. Not so bad until you realize that on day 21 you'd be at 3,150 people and that number would stay constant until we decided to stop quarantining.

3,150 people a day to provide shelter for, feed them, security, medical staff, administrative staff, transportation, entertainment etc etc .....

The logistics become a bit cumbersome.

You'd need an unused facility that has all that infrastructure already in place.

Then it hit me.

It's perfect.

Think of the political mileage The Donald could get out of it when he announces his run for office next cycle.

I know people who know his people so I may reach out.

You still have to have a US visa to get on a plane to the US if your passport is from any non-visa waiver country. Seems to me it'd be very easy to ban travelers from ebola-stricken countries from coming to the US. First, stop issuing visas to anyone from those countries and second, anyone who already has a visa can't come until the ban is lifted. You can't get on a flight to the US from any other country without their checking your passport several times at original airport. And they all know which passports require US visas.

This won't happen until political pressure dictates. Unfortunately.
No politician today, party-specific, will stand up.
How's that "hope & change" working?

I like it. It'll be like "Raccoon City" from the Resident Evil movies.
