I would like to see the video in slow motion too, I can't see where the spent steam goes and I'm not sure how the valve works.

The pressure side is a simple shuttle valve being timed by that connecting rod. I coudnt see it, but the exhaust is usualy just a port in the cylinder wall at the bottom of the power stroke.
