OK, its Halloween...No ghost stories? Ever see one? Believe?
I've been to some pretty creepy places but never had a supernatural experience... Anyone?
Think there are such things as ghosts?

I stayed in the supposed most haunted place in Nevada... Nothing....
But on the same hand I don't totally rule it out. I've heard stories from people I trust that weren't explainable any other way. |

As an intern I worked in an old hospital originally run by nuns, so a few stories, all from the oldest ward.
Came on one morning early to find a young patient (early 20s) sitting in the nurses' station. I asked what was going on. The nurses said that he had come out in the early hours and refused to go back to his bed. He said that he awoke to find a nun in an old style habit at the end of his bed staring at him. He thought that was a bit weird, but knew the hospital was a "Convent" hospital. The nun then began to move toward him. When he realised that the nun was not moving toward him beside his bed, but moving through it, he decided it was time to decamp to the nurses station, and refused to go back to the same bed again. Another time, a "Code" was called on the same ward. I was on the Code Team at that time, we responded and sorted out the problem taking the patient off to ICU. Subsequently, the ward nurses asked why we'd come, as they had just found the patient and hadn't had time to call the Code. All the staff denied activating the Code call, we never found out how it was activated. In my current hospital's old ICU, we had the one isolation room we typically used for the sickest patients, so the room had a well above average mortality rate associated with it. Because of it's set-up, it was the best room for the night duty guys to have a nap if it was quiet. I never had an issue with it, but a number of otherwise quite level headed staff would refuse to sleep in the room because it was "bad".

I'm open minded but skeptical. I've never seen/experienced anything that I couldn't explain, but I've heard stories from folks that swear they have that I would expect to be reliable.
I figure there are plenty of things in this universe that we don't know about and can't explain.

My first house was built in 1914. Cute bungelo, but it had been neglected as a rental for years. We had this sweet old lady next door neighbor. One day she asked me in a sly way if I had ever "seen anything" in the house. I asked her what she meant? She said "nothing." I pushed on and politely demanded that she tell me specifically what she was referring to. She then said that two different tenants had seen an older woman dressed in old fashioned clothing in just one of the bedrooms. The funny thing? The old woman didn't have any legs. Just her torso appeared.
My wife and I, my Brother in Law, and my Mother in Law all lived in that room at various times. We never saw anything. Cool story however! Larry |

My wife's grandparents house is supposedly haunted. Of course it's a B&B now and I think it's just a way of attracting guests.
Oh yeah, the owner now is a real sleaze ball. House is no longer in the family. |

Not sure what I believe but had an interesting thing happen to my niece last night.
On Halloween night 1975 my older brother was killed in a car accident. The car he was riding in(1973 4 door Impala) hit a tree at high speed. He was actually DOA at the hospital shortly after midnight on November 1. My niece was driving home from work last night around 11:30pm when a large limb from a tree fell onto her car. Luckily it fell on the passenger's side and she was not hurt but for some bruises. Some of my family believes that my brother must have been watching over her......

I had a lot of pictures go crashing off the walls when the Ex lived here. Many, many animals run over in front of the house, many deer, a fox, skunks, possums, the ex's very smart and sweet cat.
I had a housekeeper who refused to go into one of the upstairs rooms. She said someone was grabbing her in there... I was visiting the ex at her new place, and we were talking about getting back together. Her favorite picture came flying off the wall in the next room... I had the house blessed after she left, several times. Had a lot of people pray over it. ''Talked'' to the old residents. It's pretty calm now. Paintings crashing off the walls can make your skin crawl. Having the light bulb burn out on you while you are in the basement is also pretty creepy, especially when it happens on a regular basis. There was some other stuff, which I might talk about later. Last edited by DanielDudley; 11-01-2014 at 11:31 AM.. |

Put me down as open minded but skeptical... my front house is very old... when my brother owned the place he claimed to see apparitions on a little girl running around the house. My dad bought the house from him, then about ten years later sold the house to me. I lived in the front house for several years while finishing the back house... nada, nothing.
As a kid we were "camping" in a tent in the back yard... very late at night someone pushed back the curtains at the sliding glass window to the backyard and shined a flashlight at us... the next morning at breakfast I asked who did that... all the adults in the house swore they slept through the night. I have wanted to spend a evening or two (perhaps Halloween?) on the Queen Mary.

The buildings where I work are haunted. I have been with this company for 21 years and have heard lots of stories about people seeing ghosts and hearing strange things. I never really believed any of it until about 8 years ago when I experienced something that I can't explain. I run a cnc mill in the machine shop and I was staying a few hours late for overtime. There were other machinists there working but I was working away from everyone else. Maybe 50 feet from the next person. I was loading a part into the machine and I saw a shadow go by the side window of the machine towards the back. I looked and nobody was around me. I went back to loading the part and saw the shadow pass by again but this time going toward the front. I walked completely around the machine thinking one of my coworkers was messing with me. Nobody was near me. As I went to go back to loading the part, suddenly the fluorescent lights shattered above me and glass showered down on me and all over my toolbox. My coworkers ran over to see what happened and said I was pale as a ghost. I have goosebumps now thinking about it. I believe I saw a ghost walk past twice that night. I have more stories from what others have heard & seen there.

I don't drink at all. But thank you for sharing that.
![]() This is why I won't go into the other stuff. It has been a while since (most of) this stuff happened. Today it seems like some kind of surreal dream. I wouldn't believe it myself if I hadn't lived through it, and I don't need to talk about it. It is weird when people spend a short time visiting, and then years later tell you stories about your house. If things hadn't changed, I might have moved out a long time ago. Simplified version is that stuff happened, can't explain all of it or the frequency. Chalk it up to whatever you like, but let's say I have a great appreciation for normal these days, and faith in the man upstairs. ![]() |
