Just save it up for the next 477,272 months and buy that 917.
Or, you know, a carton of eggs. My property taxes are likely going up by about the same amount since the town chairman wants to fund a public water system for us, and eventually incorporate into a village. Last edited by rockfan4; 11-27-2024 at 08:15 AM.. |

Invite me out for a long spring ride and then treat me to sushi?

Seems like pushing the big blue trike would be tough, not enough for gas and food

Much of my $92 SS COLA increase is going towards higher Medicare premiums.
Part B up $10 - $175 to $185 Part D up $35 - $36 to $71 Part F up $32 - $273 to $305 Total up $77 - $484 to $561

Net $15 after the 3 premium increases.

The link I got in the email yesterday led to a breakdown of deductions for 2025 and a final amount that would be wired to my bank. I took that final amount and subtracted last months bank deposit from it...and arrived at $44 Maybe I should be doing it differently? I'm not sure.

Don't you have an an advantage plan that has a zero monthly premium?
I went with the more expensive monthly premiums route with Part D and F. Fewer restrictions and lower out of pocket.

My breakdown only shows two diff deductions.
My fed tax withholding $277 Medicare Medical Insurance (part B and c) $185 Part D (drug plan) is no charge That's it. I also have Priority Health for prescriptions and other odds and ends. That bill is $33/month....but it's not mentioned on the SS benefit sheet.

^^^ Ok...got it.
You obviously have more coverage than I do. I went with a cheaper coverage because I typically hardly ever use it. (I've never had a prescription.)

G'day!
|
My 66th SS deposit landed last week. 5.5 years now, right? Just like clock work!
Haven't see any COLA message yet but whatever it is will be welcome, as all previous ones have been. Carry on....... ![]()

The email I received led to this from SSA...
"Your Social Security benefit will increase by 2.5% in January 2025 because of a rise in the cost of living. You can use this letter as proof of your benefit amount if you need to apply for food, rent, or energy assistance. You can also use it to apply for bank loans or for other business. Keep this letter with your important financial records or access this information online by signing into your my Social Security account." $44 is not getting me much of a loan....if I wanted one. ![]()

It's always a losing game with SS. The COLA increase is based upon the preceding year's inflation - out-of-pocket money we've already spent and this new money doesn't make up for it. And the COLA adjustment always underweights the increase in many sectors, like prescription drugs and home insurance. It's a fool's game. But I suppose I should bow to our government overlords for their generosity in returning the money they confiscated at gunpoint from my paycheck for the past 45 years .... I am not worthy

It's your call ![]() Serious question .... does anyone (here on this thread) collecting SS really depend on it ... or is it just a number? Never counted on it, paid the max for years, and like my parents ... it's gravy now. THEY and my grandparents and lots of relatives absolutely depended upon it for years tho.... I paid them .... youngins paying me... Egypt would be proud ![]() |

No, I don't depend on it, mostly because I have a very nice pension from working at the same place for 38 years.
But the SS check is a nice addition and I appreciate any additional amount they want to add to it each year. (it's a lot better than nothing)
