How much $$ to tip ?? - cars & limos
OK, I've got a question for the trust. I think I do a pretty good job of tipping bartenders and wait staff. I bartended for several years. What I don't have any clue about is tipping a driver. Next week, the missus and I are getting married. (Common law married for 20 years, but we decided to have a ceremony).
Anyway, on one occasion, we have a town car picking up our daughter and bringing her up to our house to be with the missus as she gets ready. I think the bill will be $90, and the drive will be 30 mins. How much to tip? Basically, he's just going to be a taxi but cleaner and nicer. The next day, same company, town car to take 3 adults to the airport, again, probably 30 min drive, $63 bill. The day of the wedding, we have a stretch limo for several hours, going to be $540. How much to tip that guy. He's probably going to bring the missus from our place to the church (2 miles), wait around a couple hours, take a half dozen people to the restaurant (2.5 miles), wait around a couple hours, and then take 3 adults to their hotel (2.5 miles). So what say you? I don't want to over tip, but I don't want to screw them either.

I do 10% on cabs. Would do the same here. Not sure if that is good, but I have always been thanked and never gotten the stink eye. I travel for work, I do 10% as well, more I would not want to justify against my employer.
