Cremo shave cream!
 

I have been using it for about 2 months now and it is the best shaving cream i have used. I decided to try it because I am on blood thinners and if I cut myself, I have a hard time stopping the bleeding. Also, I don't seem to be going thru as many blades as with the foaming gels.

I just wanted to pass my experience along

I use a Merkur and Cremo or Taylor of Old Bond Street. Cremo is good stuff you can find for cheap at your local Walgreens.

Going across the border next week so I'll stop at Walgreen and pick up some and report...

Only shave once a week to clean-up the neck line since I have not seem my face since 1980 :D:):D

I agree, I like the Cremo when I don't have time to mix a nice lather with one of my badger brushes and a mug. I like Proraso, Speick, Palmolive, and Mitchells Wool Fat. As for the razors, I rotate between an Edwin Jagger and a Merkur. I like Astra and Feather blades.

Its about $25 for 6 ounces, but its lasted almost two years, about 4x as expensive as Cremo, but it lasts several times longer and it is so much better than the Williams shave soap at Walmart.

Razor:She also bought me a really nicely weighted Mach 3 razor from the same place $175. It is so nice.

Expensive? Yes to some people. To me, its about a days net pay, or so. The brush, razor and stand will last me ten or more years. For something I do every morning, it works out to a few pennies per day. SmileWavy

I really like my Synergy Shaving bay rum soap and a badger brush.

Do you have a styptic pencil? That's pretty good at stopping the bleeding.

I've been using good old Barbasol for years, but I'll give it a shot....

Just an FYI, make sure you read and follow the directions. It's a little different than most shaving products.

Same here. I'm a solid Barbasol fan. But then about a year ago I bought this badger brush...

I've not looked back and plan on upgrading in a few months. I like the brush application significantly more than using my hand.

Those Mach 3 razors are nice!

+1 to Hugh - the Art of Shaving stuff is awesome. One of my few vices. It has transformed shaving from something I hated doing into a pleasurable, even self-indulgent experience.

Shave in the shower. Soap face a couple of times with regular soap and the water as hot as you can stand. Point the shower head away from body and turn to hot water only.

Rinse the razor and use a hand mirror. Rinse often to help keep the blade hot. Wash face afterwards and continue shower. Remember to turn the temp back to something normal.

To keep mirror from fogging up, rinse and soap the mirror then rinse again with hottest water.

For a razor, I use a Mach 3 Turbo, because it works for me.

Haven't needed a mirror to shave ever since I was in the USMC 40 years ago. I used the cheap blue throw away razors for years, the ones I mentioned above are like night and day. Like the difference between driving a old Ford Pinto and a new Bentley.

This Cremo stuff is very slick. I have not cut myself since I started using it and I think I am on the same blade too. Im a cheap SOB and seemed to go thru a blade very week or so. Cremo has a pearl like color. Going to try some of the other tips mentioned above.

Haha, didn't you know that when you get a razor hot it warps the blade causing it to not give a good shave .. or worse fail sooner. Keep your razor out of the water for a better shave.
