these little ads in the context of these pages and how do i get them to stop?

I had the same problem some month ago. Still don't know why or how it started.
I downloaded Ad-Aware free antivirus (Adblock Edge).
It blocks that stuff.

firefox with adblock. When I see these threads, I have to think a minute about what you're talking about because I haven't seen those in years.

masraum are you an IT guy? I will admit to being IT deficient should I be doing something differently?

This ad thing has pissed me off for months...not only on this site but web-wide.

Firefox and no script. Nice program no script has.

The ones that insert themselves into random words on a post that pop garbage up when you roll over them are the worst. That was what finally got me to install ABP. I'm glad this site never started that mess.
