Other than the dumb azz oval window out of a bug. The dooshy, I mean Foosey overwrought wheels and the owner guy thinks that was the stock steering wheel? The original is a work of art. Hey they did a show on it

My initial observations were confirmed when he said he wanted to put an old VW oval rear window.

If you have to have bumpers I do like the way he did them.

If a resto shop wants to do one and show 'em how to Do It Right I'll cheerfully volunteer my '65C coupe - it is all there, except for what has rusted away....

I have to take it back, it looks pretty damn cool. I don't like the new hood badge though.

The choice of wheels....
If I were given that car, I'd change wheels and put back a proper rideheight, the rest of the car seems nice.

I didn't see it, but I was imagining they would go for some fake patina look, maybe with some kind of tribal detailing that they rusted the metal over so it looks like it's been on for years like I've seen done to a VW bug. And of course, huge wheels.

The oval window graft is ugly.

Oval window idea was interesting. A little too small for my taste.
Chip at least recognized the body was valuable. But after all the paint and bondo stripping, it was in bad shape. I agreed with him that it was less of an issue with the purist, because so much was no longer original. I thought the red version looked nicer. The owners got a nice driver. Since it is not pure, they can afford to drive it, verses parking a $200k jewel. Although there was a lot of money poured into that body restoration. |

I liked it. Chip trims and tucks bumpers so often it seems old hat at this point but the cars always look better for it. I wouldn't have any issue letting him go to town with one of my cars.
