Alternatives to Netflix streaming??
We have netflix streaming for 7.99/mo and while it's economical, the movies mostly suck and the selection sucks as well. What are other folks using that has a better selection? I think 95% of the nextflix movie have never been in theater and it's easy to see why. I need to cut this cord and find a better supplier for the winter months to maintain my sanity.
Any suggestions and monthly cost? Thanks. |
I gave up on netflix a couple months ago after exhausting the little good material they have. I now use the instant video included with my Amazon Prime membership. It's about the same, I just don't pay extra for it.

You need to learn to search a little harder. I always find something good on Netflix. "Still Mine", "out of the Furnace", "Fading Gigolo", "Citizen Koch", "Radio Days" , "Detachment". I have the plan that also offers DVDs. Lots more stuff there also.

I had the DVD plan and was not using it.

Great selection of documentaries also.

In my area Netflix streaming will not play in HD and sometimes stumbles, re starts, etc. I've also gone to amazon prime. There are not as many free shows/movies but the quality is way better and you can rent newer selections as well.

Amazon prime has a better selection but will charge extra for the good movies. Not a problem for me, I prefer a lower monthly rate and pay only when I watch something vs. a higher monthly fee regardless of use. I buy a lot at amazon, so the prime is worth it just for convenience with shipping.

I have Netflix and Amazon Prime. Can anyone give me a good reason to add Hulu plus to that lineup?

More tv shows. Get a free trial and see if you like it.
I have Netflix and Hulu - and OTA - wondering if I should add amazon prime. |
Amazon Prime has everything I want

I'd watched other shows there without issue, but whatever this was came with adverts. I was appalled. Didn't renew. |

Amazon Prime has mostly the same stuff as Netflix, with the option to rent/buy whatever isn't in the free catalog.
I like the Roku (3500R "streaming stick", in my case) for streaming, as you can just search from the top menu and let Roku find the movies through whatever services you have signed in to. Then you can compare price. Pretty easy to use, unlike the stories I've heard about Chromecast. I guess there are a lot of free channels too, but I haven't explored them, yet. |
Amazon is better than Netflix. There's also a ton of movie streaming apps out now. Buy a device like a Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, etc. and they come pre-loaded. Most of them have very up-to-date selections to choose from. I think the one we use most is called "Movies to Go" or something like that.
