Feeling extra giving this holiday? WWII Army Vet lost everything in fire

This story is about a volunteer at my sons' school. My son says he is so excited that "Mr. Campbell is coming back tomorrow"! He reads to the kids. His story totally pulled at my heart strings and thought with some of you being Army Vets, might feel compelled to help him out. I feel like if he even gets an extra $10 here, it was worth it. I am donating. Breaks my heart to think someone who fought during WWII and gives so much of his time now has nothing, especially during the holidays.

Thank you ahead of time for anyone who feels compelled to donate. Good karma as I see it. Hugs! His story and gofundme account below.

Awwwww!!! Thanks everybody! I read this story late last night and posted this here thinking I would get one or two donations but wow! Thanks! Pelican... you guys act all tough and grumpy but really, you all are big ol' teddy bears with big hearts typing away! This made my day! I didn't donate last night but rather woke up today and just donated. It is so heart warming to see familiar names and I know some of those anonymous ones are you guys too! Every little bit counts and makes me feel so good that we take care of the men that took care of us in battle.

Thank you again and shall all of you have a wonderful holiday! Good karma and warm fuzzies all around!

An update from the gofundme website.

Thank you for the outpouring of support!

Mr. Campbell was at school today, working with the students. I shared with him your messages, for which he was amazed and humbled by the attention. Pioneer's PTSO is running a donation drive and students can buy paper links on which they write messages for a colorful care chain. The chain currently adorns the front office, but it will certainly brighten his place when it is finished. He also received hand-made cards from students, which made his day!

We ran errands today, after which he showed me his place. It is amazing that anything could have survived the fire, but his hearing aid did! As the photo shows, the home was completely gutted. Until it can be replaced, he is staying in a hotel and plans to use the donations to help purchase a car soon.

Thanks again for your generous support!! If anyone knows someone who can help with a used car (preferably a Prius or something with great fuel economy), please contact me.

Trying to upload a picture of his mobile home that burned down. So sad... But they have raised almost $2500!!!! Thank you again to the Pelicans who have donated. Such big hearts here!
