No japes, I'm too jealous of the Fastback and the 356 in the garage.

You were a stylin' dude when you were a kid; my look was a lot closer to "Scraps McGillicuddy".

It's a 1600 Super, Gary - I believe a '62. My Dad picked it up at the local VW dealership. He passed away in '68 and my Mom sold it afterwards so us boys wouldn't kill ourselves. Good old Mom...always looking out for us. That Stingray was pretty cool too! :)

Ha....don't think I was all that stylin' but thanks anyway. No computers back then or Internet - life was good. ;)

I think I still have my old one from the 80s but the covers are missing and it is all signed off. I got my eagle in '91 I think, might have been '90.

I keep the field book by my bed on the night stand and keep the bedroom fairly cold so when my wife says it is cold I flip to the page on hypothermia where it says to cuddle naked with someone. Works every time except when it doesn't.

I just ordered copies of the books I used. Mine were lost many years ago.

As I looked at picking up a bunch of the merit badge books (Cooking, camping, etc.) I came across Fingerprinting Merit Badge.

WTF is fingerprinting merit badge?

I have an odd fondness now for Scouting considering I couldn't stand it myself as a boy and either could my three boys. I do think scouting presents a tremendously positive ideal of what a young man should be and how he should act. I just had such a non-conformity streak that I couldn't go along with some of it. My sons also did enough eye-rolling as they got a bit older and more worldly that we let them drop after it was obviously something they weren't interested in. Too bad.
