He has a 64 Navitimer and I have always just loved it. Since really seeing that watch, well BAM! That was it. Now, a for using it... he did use it as the tool it was meant to be while flying two tours of duty in Vietnam as Huey pilot. (Bronze stars, Air medals, and DFC) He had to replace the leather band a few times due to deterioration from sweat and humidity. It has since been back to Breitling for service and new strap and runs like a champ. |
Steve,
Both your choices are fantastic. The Cosmonaute LE was my second choice... Just couldn't do a Bentley version, we work on enough Bentley cars that I don't want anything with that name plate on it.... :) Even though it is a beautiful watch! |
Up for an old thread because I didn't want to start a new one.
One for the aviators. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Nyd4HPuGO1M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Call Breitling and ask them. If it's not a certified store, then don't.
If it is, you can always send it in to have it verified and if fake, dispipute the charge. |
I can recommend Swiss Watches Direct. You won't find a better price globally and they are authentic. I've bought two Omegas from them.

This is mine, a recent Speedmaster Pro I bought new in 2012. It's a manual, but it takes less than 10 seconds to wind up every morning. The power reserve is 48 hours. I love the history of it, and it's just a great design as is. Somewhat of a sleeper watch too, less in your face than the Breitlings.

I will have a Speedy Pro one of these days!

15-20 (?) yrs ago I bought a pricey Tag-Heuer (I love Breitlings as well but I wanted THAT Tag then). Bought it on a cruise at a duty free island dealer, legit - must have been St Marteen or something.. Discount vs. stateside dealer paid for my cruise... I wore it out and decided to get it serviced like 15Y later by TAG, what a ripoff that was... Better off buying a new one ! They charged something like $300 for one simple button replacement, wanted $500 more for the scratched sapphire - I passed - their polishing of the wristband looked like crap - and they failed to reseal it properly after changing the battery/servicing because it took water damage shortly after... Not provable, obviously but I know nobody else touched it since the service... Didn't even bother fighting it at that point...
I've never been tempted to buy "man-jewelry" after that... Could make an exception for a breitling, I really dig them too, but they all seem giganormous these days, I guess I need to work out more and develop huge forearms ;-) (get your minds out of the gutter) |
