Wells Fargo rant

I am so pizzed at this bank. I have set up an irrevocable trust for the family using a CELA attorney. But Wells Fargo kept dicking around with the paperwork for 7 weeks! They kept wanting more and more and then finally insisted that my name appear on the account! WTF it's an irrevocable trust! I cannot have access to the account by NJ law. And we couldn't get the bank to budge. Finally my CELA says "walk away find a different bank". Kee-rist what a pain in the butt. Screw Wells Fargo.

Rant off, thanks for listening.

It's because every major bank has kids working there- that's the problem. Every one of 'em is loaded with 18 year old "Bank Managers"

Think about that for a minute- they don't pay squat, so you get the lowest quality employee. I seriously think a bank hires fast food rejects.

We did indeed deal with a 20 something "kid". But we asked for a senior manager and got nowhere. So they lose the money.

You will encounter the same youthful stupidity at any major bank, fair warning.

Hate Wells Fargo with a perfect white flame passion.

They do have a kick ass website- I just made peace with them, their dog has the least amount of fleas.

I said that 5 years ago and went with a regional bank (Wesbanco). MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better customer service.

Small local banks and credit unions are the way to go. Much better service, imho. Banks that are too large to fail, are well, too large to fail. So, what's their incentive?

also in NJ...... I'd use Columbia bank www.columbiabankonline.com , or Peapack-Gladstone Home :: Peapack-Gladstone Bank

I will jump in and kick them a bit,
I was in a bank in Cost Rica, my friend got a cashier's check from his account for me for $20k American. I deposited it in the WF back in San Juan Cap. A couple months later I started getting notices on insufficient funds, I went into the bank and they said the check was no good. I told them I was in the bank, watched the transaction, knew the guy, what was the problem. It turned out they sent the check to ,,,,,San Jose, California to some bank. We got it straightened out I thought, they wrote letters to people admitting their mistake, but, a month or so later it happened again. It was re routed to San Jose California again. They wrote more letters, finally took care of it with the Bank in Costa Rica and I canceled my accounts. I doubt they care or cared then. Still not a fan of cashiers checks.

I got to deal with a small bank in Montana today, exactly like mine here in Boston. Excellent experience with a complex issue concerning a customer.

Small banks are awesome, they care about you as a customer.

Large banks suck, they only care how much $ they can make off of you and save by not doing anything for you.

Wells Fargo

I just couldn't resist posting.
The one and only time I went to a Wells Fargo was to cash a check that my brother had written me for around $100, I wanted cash, so went directly to a local branch.
They wouldn't cash the check until I sat down with a personal banker
I told them that I had no interest in talking with their personal banker and just wanted the cash. They said it was their "policy"
I had to argue with them for 15 minutes before they finally gave in and cashed the check. I promised myself never to deal with that bank again

I won't ever deal with a bank again. Credit unions only. My last two (in addition to the one where I belong now) have been great. This one is too. Way better than a bank.

chapo 12-05-2014 06:10 PM

Wells Fargo is hands down the worst bank I ever have dealt with. Wish my credit union could by law handle business accounts

Dantilla 12-05-2014 07:33 PM

The problem with all the "big boys", Wells Fargo, Chase, yada yada is that nobody in the local branch is allowed to make a decision.
Time is measured with calendars, not watches.

I've always had great service from the small, local guys.

I agree, WFB sucks. On the Other hand, Sacramento Credit Union, Rocks.

Very close to punting my local bank for that exact reason. Your employee turnover and lack of training are NOT my problem. I had a deposit incorrectly posted by over $800 short. They acted like it was no big deal, "we probably would have caught it". Thank God my wife is an accountant and watches our accounts like a hawk. I'd be gone already if it weren't such a pain to switch banks, especially with three different accounts.

Sadly my credit union was no better. Ours had our mortgage and was consistently a huge hassle to deal with. It took weeks to reach the one (yes one) person in the large local chain that did mortgage work.

as little as I care for Wells Fargo I actually despise Bank of America.

Having spent the first half of my corporate career inside each of those "beasts" (under different names of course)....imo all mega-banks suck. It's not that they don't have qualified people...it's just they are so big with large corporate accounts that our peon accounts just don't matter to them, thus you are left dealing with the bottom of the totem pole at your local branches, etc., ....follow the money

CU or local, smaller banks....a no brainer imo
