You could invent what will be known as a tree party.

Everyone comes around with beers offering suggestions. Dogs running around on the loose barking. Sterio blaring, BBQ with steaks.

My buddy would say this is "some Southern ****" goin on- he's from down south, and this is something they would do.

Only difference "here" in the south is: the tree would already be safely on the ground, sawed up, and maybe even split by now...then bbq + beer = party time :D

We have those!! We aren't supposed to burn brush etc here, but you are allowed to have outdoor cooking fires or "Fires for ceremonial purposes." So every spring we have a Tree Fell Down Ceremony and burn the carcasses of the winter fall. It looks a lot like what you describe, Bill.

Unfortunately my stupid neighbor got wind of what we were doing and tried it himself. He burned half his woods down. He didn't even know it was on fire until the the FD showed up. How anyone can be idiot enough to set a pile of brush on fire and then go inside to watch TV the rest of the afternoon is beyond my comprehension.

You guys made it look too easy.

As this thread demonstrates, there are alot of stupid people in this world, with most of them being drunk, which means when they get hit by a falling tree or run a stop sign, they aren't the ones who get hurt because they are so relaxed.

I've checked this thread about two dozen times already today... C'mon gravity, do your stuff already!

You notice the view count on this thread? Lots of us are overly "concerned" about Thom's neighbor too :D:D:D

...must resist looking.....CAN'T :p

Yea, this is like the cliffhanger scene on the Saturday matinee serial movies.

We all want to see how it ends.

tadink 12-10-2014 11:12 AM

ugh - now I'M hooked on this too....

scottmandue 12-10-2014 11:14 AM

One word... explosives!

recycled sixtie 12-10-2014 11:38 AM

Schadenfreude(German= literally means harm-joy according to Google). If I was his neighbour I would be shouting at him to call the experts. What was he thinking? House insurance likely would not cover stupidity.....

It is sort of on my way home, but it is going to be pouring rain with high winds, I am going straight to the house tonight. Things will change between now and tomorrow morning

Thread hijack here!!! For some reason, that "network issue" that you were having from home some time back popped into my head the other day. What was your resolution on that? Just curious....

And maybe I'll get something "useful" from this thread other than tingling anticipation waiting for the next episode of "As The Tree Topples" ;)

I'm also taking wagers....I'm betting on gravity and giving 10 to 1 odds....any takers?

Tobra 12-10-2014 12:32 PM

Never really fixed anything. I got a better router, and it happens less often now, but it still happens much more regularly than I would like.

red-beard 12-10-2014 12:36 PM

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

You canna change the laws of physics!

Thom,

Lawnchairs and beers. I'm so tempted to drive up and watch this calamity.

GWN7 12-10-2014 01:34 PM

I remember reading that trees weigh about 550 kg per meter cubed or about 1200 lbs. per sq yard and the weight of the branches equals the trunk weight. So every 7'-9' there is a ton of weight. Gee I wonder why his jeep had no effect on the tree. :)
