JMO but anybody who buys a truck for mileage and not for duty use really doesn't need a truck. My truck gets 14mpg, empty, loaded, trailer, it never changes and yes it really sucks but I have a car that gets 30mpg so the truck can keep on drinking.

But trucks are the new luxury car replacing the Bimmers and Mercs for some reason.

Actually, if I had to go down to one car I would look at the ecodiesel quad cab.

Oh my truck would be the last thing to leave the driveway just because of the utility.

flipper35 12-15-2014 08:42 AM

And scare factor.

Rick V 12-15-2014 08:43 AM

No that is what my ugly mug is for

flipper35 12-15-2014 08:45 AM

Wasn't G intimidated even though he was the one driving it?

The chicken lights across the top of my cab are for "scare factor". You can't believe how many small cars hesitate just that 1 necessary second when i'm approaching an intersection. I think they do a double take to see if it's a semi truck.

Sure, the VW Rabbit diesel is going to do better than my 3/4 ton 4x4. But the VW can't tow the trailer, or stack gobs of building materials, car parts, yada yada in its tiny bed.

I recently bought a one-owner 1968 Chevy pick-up, planning on swapping in more contemporary running gear for improved power and efficiency.
The CNG sounds like a great option.

I need a full-size pick-up. Why not have a cool, hot-rodded one?

Ya, the rabbit will do 40mpg... But you better hope you don't need to get anywhere fast! I know where theres one or two for sale btw...;)

CNG is a great option if you have stations around to buy fuel! In OK they are all over, so my dad has 3 CNG pickups for his business. You can't tell they are on CNG driving them, plenty of power, same MPG, and CHEAP fuel!

Rules for BS in advertising? Hahaha!!

flipper35 12-15-2014 11:44 AM

Yup, Ford has the Best in Class III towing with the F450. But to get it light enough to put it into Class III you delete the rear bumper, spare tire, radio...
