The max for Hughesnet 4 residential is 15 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up, but the typical plan is 10/1 with 10g of data per month from 2am to 8am and 10g for the rest of the time.

I am upgrading to a business system next week which offers the same speed, but a slightly larger dish and 20G per month from 8am to 6 pm and 10G the rest of the time. It also cones with better (all US) support. The cost is about twice as much.

That's what I have since I work from home at least one day a week and work at times during the weekend. Occupational hazard.

I wish there was a magic bean for interwebs in the sticks...if anyone has a better provider, I am all rabbit ears.

A key for me is I found an installer/maintainer that is really good. If I have any issues I call him first and then he calls Hughes.

Not sure. I think it has that capability. It's down at the other house so can't check.

Hughes Net is a major contributor to my high blood pressure. For the past year I have had the same issue with it dropping out. Constantly recycling the power on the modem and router, now getting worried that I may be actually wearing out the connection port. And what really pisses me off if that their modem breaks I have to pay for a new one, all the while I'm just renting the equipment. Argued to no avail about how criminal this policy is. I have spent WAY to much time on the phone with this company. I did look at Exceed and once you get through e marketing BS it no different. We also have Direct TV, both satellite based, and Direct works great. When you have no choices you have to deal with what you got.

I just pulled my paperwork and you are correct; My plan is 10/1 with 10 & 10.
Still, that is not the cause of the problems I have experienced.

edit:
I just ran their speed test, back to back, 5 times. Here are the results in kbps:
848, 77, 818, 34, 81.

I too have hughes net and hate it but I am stuck. I cant watch any videos, and Netflix would be a joke and hate the price of Hughes net as well. I hopeful when they build the 70 million dollar surgery center 2 miles down the rode from me they will bring in cable..
