I'll be in Spartanburg on business at the BMW plant Sunday evening and Monday next week. I was planning on seeing the museum. Is there anything else I should see there? Not much time, basically two evenings before I have to fly home.

Go to downtown Greenville for dinner. Find Main street and you're there. Amazing town with countless pubs, shops, entertainment, a river/waterfall, walking bridge, people, etc. Safe and a completely well kept secret. About a 20 minute drive from BMW...maybe a bit less.

Cotton Grill is good.

For Lunch Brick Street Cafe: They have a Sweet Potato cake that is probably one of the best cakes in the country. Mmmm

Museum is small - but they do have one of the E30 DTM M3s in the definitive white with red, blue, purple diagonal stripe.

Downtown eatery recommendation - Tupelo Honey Cafe. Good for breakfast.

Note that BMW is about half-way between Greenville and Spartanburg. Strong vote for Greenville...really no comparison. If time permits, check it out.

Actually in Duncan, near the BMW plant.

As for the meal, I wish I had two stomachs so I could eat that again!

I would also like to add... Sweet potato and pecan casserole. Where have you been my whole life?

Assume you went to the Sticky Fingers on Main street in Greenville? Did you get a chance to wander around a bit? Lot's to see and do on that very road...and the weather was beautiful this weekend!

Yes sir I did. I wandered around downtown a bit, and tomorrow I'm going to try High Cotton unless someone has a better idea.

Also had a chance to buy a young Marine and his GF dinner. They don't know it, but I remember what it was like being a broke ass E-2 taking your girl out... I was NEVER that young!

Try the Shrimp & Grits if you do go to High Cotton but there are so many EXCELLENT choices in Gville.

or you could go to:

American Grocery (towards the ballpark - West End)

or

Breakwater (also towards the ballpark - West End)

or

Nantucket Seafood (city center)

or

The Green Room (city center)

or .....

The Trappe Door (Belgian Pub)

but my advice if you want the go to culinary choice in Gville is Rick Erwin's (~400' past the waterfall High Cotton towards the ballpark).

Anniversary dinner with my wife at High Cotton last year. Was excellent. Food, service, atmosphere, etc. Great choice.

Try and get to BMW before the end of the business day. You can get a tour of the facility. Museum doesn't offer much.....I frequent the area and was there a few weeks ago.

I was at BMW. I was there to look at the robotic paint booths. I'll post pictures of the museum while I lay-over in Atlanta.

Not there, I work for Boeing in Everett Washington in automation and maintenance. We are looking at other sites to glean experience and improve our process.

Dinner was OK... The leader of our little group wanted to debrief over dinner. She had her heart set on some place called "Smoke On The Water." It wasn't bad, but not as good as I'd hoped. Of course after a full day of meetings and talking about robots the last thing I wanted to do was have another meeting and talk about robots some more.

I really enjoyed my brief stay in South Carolina. I thought I might like to snowbird in Arizona upon retirement (in another 30 years) but I am going to investigate here more closely.
