Joe Cocker Died

DIed today at age 70.
Loved that guys music.

strupgolf 12-22-2014 01:14 PM

Wow. I first saw him on SNL back in the 70's and he was one strange guy. But he was himself, and his music was off the wall.

That was John Belushi ripping on Joe Cocker.

There's already a thread on this.

Belushi did a great impression of Cocker as NC points out.
They sang together on SNL also.

intakexhaust 12-22-2014 01:27 PM

"Too much to do before I die....."

I hope he got most of it done.

RIP JC

No one else could cover a Beatles song like JC. We lost one of the greats today.

Man, time is flyin!

creaturecat 12-22-2014 03:02 PM

That was a great 8 minutes and 6 seconds. Woodstock.

targa911S 12-22-2014 03:19 PM

And we all move up a space.....R.I.P Joe.

herr_oberst 12-22-2014 05:11 PM

For a man who never wrote a song, he sure did make a lot of music his very own.

FLYGEEZER 12-23-2014 05:55 AM

R.I.P. Joe and thanks. this Bud is for you!

I liked his voice and music from the very beginning, others had to grow on me.
Keep your Hat ON was a favorite of mine and the hot girl I was hanging with at the time.

aigel 12-23-2014 02:22 PM

Rip

I listened to him when I was a teen - during his comeback in the 80s - saw him live in 87 in a small venue. Amazing. I still see him in front of me ... RIP Joe - and thanks for the great music.

"Many Rivers to Cross" - wow. May be my new favorite.
His version of "Sail Away" was well sung, but he really fuched up the lyrics.

Never heard his version prior to this. Me like!
Maybe even better than Jimmy Cliff's version.

That was a hard livin' man with serious pipes, here's to you, Mr Cocker.

That guy could do a cover of a song by pretty much anyone, and be better than the original.

don't know what it is, listened to this again. His passing seems somehow more like the end of an era, long gone, but alive in some of us. The power of his voice, his everyman demeanor, his taking of Woodstock and making it his. JJ Cale, Entwisile, and other rockers that have gone before him, seem, at least to this old guy, not quite as profound.

Listen to this one more time. It is powerful

911_Dude 12-24-2014 10:00 AM

I love his music. Worst stage dancer ever.

Cajundaddy 12-24-2014 10:48 AM

Just an extraordinary performer. He always had an amazing band and his live shows cut me to ribbons. Bon voyage Joe and I hope to see you on the other side.
