Kudos to State Farm Insurance
My sister woke up recently to find out someone during the night hit her Subaru WRX that was parked out on the street in front of her house.
When I saw the car, it wasn't good. Possibly totaled. Yup. Tweeked pretty badly underneath, major surgery to fix. I prepared her to expect a low-ball offer from her insurance, and started gathering info to argue for fair market value. Getting ready for a battle...... I was completely shocked when the claims agent called me, at my sister's request, and gave me his valuation. It was within a few pennies of what I determined would be fair. His first words: "Those WRX's are great cars. they hold their value well". He went through his list of reasoning, and I couldn't fault a single item. Within a couple days, a check for the full amount, with his supporting documents will be at her agent's office. She is just to bring in the title, and swap it for the check. Couldn't be easier. Nice to deal with an honest guy. She already has another car picked out. Makes me glad I'm also insured with State Farm. Hope I never need to use it! |

I've been with State Farm since 1972. Autos, home & a small life policy. They have ALWAYS done me well ! I would not be anywhere else.

I had the opposite experience. I finally got fair treatment, but it was like pulling teeth.
In about 1975 I had my '56 Porsche coupe repainted. It got caught in a hail storm a few months later. The first adjuster couldn't find a dent on the left rear fender, so he wrote it up as 75% repaint. He actually looked at the car and could, somehow, tell where the roof stopped and the fender began and assumed a painter could exactly match the paint. I pitched a fit and they sent a second guy, who said, "This car is over 20 years old, you aren't really going to get it fixed. Take the money and buy something nice for yourself." Much hate mail and phone calls later they sent a third guy out who knew what he was looking at. He told me he knew a painter couldn't paint all of it except the fender and get the paint to match and that I was going to have to pay for a full repaint, but their rules said not to pay for undented panels. We chatted and finally he said, "You know, I think I see a little dent there, I'll write it up as a full repaint."
