There's that connection. That thing... You know when you've got it.
You like spending time with her and you make time without a second thought. Even distance doesn't worry you.
And if you have to, you can wait but together you're both on the same wave length and you understand without effort. That's love.

You could be with a beautiful woman but after the fun is over you know you don't really want to stay. That's lust.

Love - friendship, lust, trust, respect combined. It was a conversation with our daughter as a teen that my ex realized she was not in love with me, had not been for a long time, maybe not ever. She was explaining the difference between a good friend and someone you love in an intimate and romantic way. I was that friend. It's actually turned in to a great thing. I've had several years of alternating between great relationships and sowing some oats. A few months ago I met the person I'll spend the rest of my life with. She's beautiful to look at, more beautiful inside. She's a best friend, fantastic lover, funny, caring, gives more than she gets with everyone. Love for me is looking forward to each moment, the naked wrestling and shopping for dinner. Having someone to hold, trust, laugh with and want the best for.

I thought I was in love with my first wife....



After my divorce my outlook changed on what I wanted/needed in a mate.

I knew my wife was the one after our first date even though I said I wouldn't marry again.

I want to be with her into our golden years. We often joke about sitting in rocking chairs holding hands when we are old.

I don't think that helps much but the thread made me think of her. I'll text her a love note now. Corny? Sure, but if she's having a tough day it should make her smile.

My wife and I aren't in the mad passionate love that we were in when newlyweds, 26 years ago, but still find our moments together to be wonderful. We do things for each other out of respect, love and care, not because we have to. We also know that everyone has bad days and need some time and understanding.
