do people still smoke pipes?
i never see it anymore. or smell it.
in Tokyo, i visited a pipe shop. blew me away how extensive the inventory was. pipes of all shapes and sizes. from all countries. the smell inside the store was amazing. kinda intoxicating. one kinda cute japanese lady in there showed me her pipe, and tried to get me to buy one. i dont know the first thing about pipes. where the hell could you even smoke one anymore? i figured camping.. no way you can walk down a city street with one lit right? anyone here? i havent even touched a cigar since the time i smoked one at 10,000 feet elevation on a backpack trip. it was gross..for me and the trout living in that stream.

I do...mostly tobacco. I like tobacco but gave up cigarettes years ago. Cigars are nice but a pipe is very satisfying...

I must try this pipe thing...
I'm currently a cigar guy, but the time investment, bad breath and after stink are all enjoyment prohibitive unless you're a billionaire bachelor with beachfront mansions raining prostitutes...

I have a few that I break out once in a while. Nice change from the typical cigars. As far as regular pipe smokers, I could only think of two guys that I know. All the others I knew, were older guys that are no longer around.

My dad smoked cigarettes, cigars and pipes. I tried the cigar and pipe thing in my young years & never really cared for it, & by the time I was in my mid to late 20s, I had given up cigarettes. I haven't seen anyone smoking a pipe in so long I quit think about it. I still have my dad's humidor with a collection of his pipes on a shelf for display. He eventually quit cold turkey smoking anything at around 60 after the doctor told him if he continued, he'd die of emphysema.

My wife and I brought a couple of hookah pipes have from one of our trips 11 years ago. They used to be somewhat uncommon around here, but now I see them in the local head shops. I don't see anyone walking around with a regular pipe in my area. The local tobbaconist has a smoking area and I see a few guys in there occasionally with pipes. Personally, I go for the less obvious option. ![]()

I picked up a pipe recently to give it a go, along with some tobacco that smelled great in the bag. I tried smoking it... and it tasted like I was smoking burning plastic. I think I may have been doing it wrong, and it was a cheap pipe. But I'm not really interested in spending $100 on a pipe before I know if I like it. I guess I'll stick to cigars for now.

I quit smoking cigarettes long ago. Tried cigars a couple times - enjoyed it in group setting outside by the fire with some scotch. But dang the residual smell/taste is nasty - especially the next day. How do you cigar folks deal with that? Shower, brush teeth, mouthwash...still there. Ugh.

I smoked a pipe for quite a while. I'm a pretty young guy, and in true hipster fashion I did it "before it was cool."
I quit smoking all things a few years ago, and regretfully had to quit the pipe which was my favorite. It's not worth it to me to start the tabacky habit again.

I smoked a pipe (also way back before it was cool) for a while.
Then I had to clean my pipe... gross! ![]() I sneak in a cigar once in a (long) while... but they have become so expensive it only happened a few times a year.

I'm a cigar man. Not snobby about it though. I like Arturo Fuente curly heads. A good working mans daily smoke. I can make one cigar last all day.

I'm a cigar smoker..... There's a great cigar bar (huge beer/wine selection) here that is slowly being overrun by crossfit loving hipsters smoking pipes.....they spend all night, drink no alcohol and smoke a whopping $2-4 worth of tobacco.....there are a few older gents that smoke pipes as well |
