Car Movies - Checkpoint
I found "Checkpoint" on Netflix and watched it the other night.
It's a decent movie if you like old movies and cool old cars. It's no cinematic masterpiece. It's got more story than Le Mans and less racing, but it does have a fair amount of racing and scenes of old cars. I'm guessing the race in the movie is loosely based on the Mille Miglia. It's much, much better than No Man's Land. I tried to like that one, but just couldn't. The "chase" scenes that were filmed at 20mph killed me. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hah, if you don't have Netflix, you can watch the whole thing on Youtube (or download with a browser plugin)

I watched it last night, and came away fairly impressed. The villain is over the top, the acting and plotting are straight out of the fifties, but the cars are fabulous, the camera work isn't terrible and the hero's love interest is really cute!
Be sure to check out the opening credits where the producers thank David Brown, John Weir and Roy Salvadori! |
