Before you pull the trigger, get a quote for a replacement oil pan for a countach.
They hang down kinda low and in the early 90's a replacement cost over $5000.
prolly double that now.
They sure are pretty though.
The output of the crankshaft goes into the transmission then reverses direction 180 and goes back into the engine/oil pan, where it connects to the differential which is housed inside the oil pan. Cast aluminum art, but vulnerable and expensive.

Some of those expensive aluminum castings were actually really expensive magnesium castings on the Lp400... The reality is that most of them can't be found, anyway.

I've driven both and I honestly believe in one way RHD is better because your strong arm is holding the wheel while you're shifting. (assuming you're right handed)
But if you're buying a car for investment then LHD is better because there are a lot more LHD markets world wide.

Other than these two examples it's all much the same.

I think that most Countach owners would prefer their stronger arm on the shifter, as it gets a hell of a workout on a twisty road. I have never driven a car with a higher shifter effort, and that assumes that everything in the gearbox is working as intended.

Great thread. I just watched the video on washing the Countach. Having grown up in SoCal (and moved away a long time ago) I know they have some funky enviro regulations. What was with the comment about water collection while washing the car..?

Some of the parts and connections did not seem like they were designed right.
Much like toe-nailing a couple 8x8 beams together in construction. Like "oh really?"

I think they capture a very small fraction of it for recycling, they plan to do more of that in the future. Most likely, they think of car wash soap as a pollutant, in that it can encourage algae to grow in rivers and streams. Probably much ado about nothing, in the grand scheme of things.

I find it ridiculous for a guy that looks like he used to be part owner of a detailing business to fly his ex partner across the country for three days to wash his car and wax it. That’s bad enough that the guy from New York has to hire three local detailers to help him? I cannot imagine what that bill cost, some people have no common sense.

When I had my broken wrist bolted back together, the surgeon gave that less preplanning than these clowns did for polishing the paint. Oh, the drama, you gotta love YouTube...
