The difference between Knowledge and Wisdom

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Knowledge is being theologically and politically well read,
Wisdom is not posting on PARF.

Wisdom is knowing the knowledge can't solve everything.

Wisdom is about the application of logic. (Well, it should be me thinks)

I've known a lot of people with "knowledge" who well and truly mess up their lives.
We should emphasize the importance of Emotional Maturity more.

knowledge is an accumulation of information.
wisdom is a large capacity to fluidly and effectively assimilate and differentiate knowledge and emotion.

"Knowledge is power"

Wisdom is knowing how to use that power

Knowledge is learned, wisdom is earned.

Albeit a twist on the thread subject matter of 'knowledge vis-à-vis wisdom', this quote is worthwhile considering - sometimes.

"Fact or knowledge without theory is trivia; theory without fact is bull$chitt."

Knowing the difference could be defined as wisdom - I think.

Knowledge is accumulated facts and information.

Wisdom is realizing that you don't know everything.

Its what you learn after you know it all that counts.

My favorite has always been the difference between theory and reality:

A young boy went to his father and asked, "Dad, what's the difference
between theory and reality?"

"Well, son, the best way to explain this is a practical exercise. Go ask
your Mom if she'd sleep with a stranger a million dollars and come tell me
her answer."

The boy returned and said, " She said she would, Dad." "OK," replied the
father, "Go ask your sister the same question."

The boy returned and said that his sister also answered yes to the
question and then asked his Dad, "What's this got to do with theory and
reality?"

"It's simple, son. In theory, we live with millionaires.
In reality, we live with a couple of sluts."

Knowledge is knowing your wife is wrong.

Wisdom is keeping your mouth shut.

Knowledge is knowing how to replace your garage door spring. Wisdom is getting someone else to do it.

knowledge is what you gain when you do something stupid and live.. wisdom is knowing not to do it again

pavulon 01-22-2015 12:47 PM

I thought that was called experience.

At times, maybe. I've found that knowledge can generally be had without trouble and is rarely fully applicable to the real world. I tend to have real experience about 30 seconds after I could have really used it!!:( Wisdom requires retention of both?
