New Leatherman Watch

Cool concept.

Not going to be rebuilding a tranny with it.

At least it's TSA approved.

Looks potentially painful

scottmandue 01-24-2015 04:51 PM

I would buy one!

nynor 01-24-2015 05:12 PM

i like it.

Nostril Cheese 01-24-2015 05:34 PM

Awesome idea. My Leatherman gets used more than any other tool I have. Fantastic warranty as well.

unclebilly 01-24-2015 06:49 PM

Really cool idea.

Well, at least until the TSA agent you get (and his/her supervisor) say it's not. :p

I've got their boxer shorts. They're great!

Weird. I was making that up...

nynor 01-24-2015 08:08 PM

i had assumed that you were. i had pictured a pair of shorts like that wristband, with pointy bits everywhere around my junk.

I've carried this all around the world through TSA.

I won't have one of the leatherman watches, but it's kind of cool.

Yep, I've carried the Swisstech utili-key several times myself and never had a problem.

unclebilly 01-25-2015 05:14 AM

As a test of the system, when we came home from Malaysia last month, one of my colleagues tried to get through security with a lighter in his pocket...

Kuala Lumpur - no problem.
Hong Kong - no problem.
Vancouver - no problem.

onewhippedpuppy 01-25-2015 05:43 AM

Cool concept that I can't see myself ever buying.

71scgc 01-25-2015 07:33 AM

This from the same folks that put a phone on your camera (I may have that bakkerds).

My watches are watches. Nothing else. They don't multi-task.

Most things that do everything do none of it well.

There is something like that for cigar smokers.

lane912 01-25-2015 10:09 AM

be excellent at one thing-
or average at many-
your choice-

have destroyed 8 leatherman wave multi tools, each was returned to the factory and replaced for a new one-

Geronimo '74 01-25-2015 01:46 PM

Thing is, to disassemble the bracelet you would still need a seperate screwdriver...
Pass.

nynor 01-25-2015 02:03 PM

i don't think you need to disassemble it in order to use the tools.

intakexhaust 01-25-2015 02:43 PM

Could keep the watch but I'd like the band only, price point at $30.

Wife and I met Tim Leatherman years ago at a show. Kindly gave my wife a neat and small multi-tool (with some new at the time bright color anodized handle). He mentioned cool tools are not just for men.

aigel 01-25-2015 03:06 PM

Looks all but useless - there's no leverage. And those hex wrenches are a joke!

Nostril Cheese 01-25-2015 03:57 PM

Awesome. They are based in Portland, up near the airport. I could use one of these.

You would to adjust the size.
Is it one size fits all?
Do you need to choose which tools to give up, when you need to make it smaller.
Are there extra tools to add to the bracelet when you need to accomodate a larger wrist?
Good luck trying to keep that wool sweatersleave intact when you're waering it...;)

Gimmick, not for me. You can't just put a screwdriver on anything and call it a tool IMO.

Pass.

Looks like you just fold it to expose the tool

Geronimo '74 01-25-2015 11:02 PM

i know, i was thinking about size adjustment. (see post above :))

I had my Swiss-Tec confiscated in Chicago O'Hare ... They let me "mail" it home, took 3 months

sand_man 01-26-2015 07:40 AM

Interesting. I EDC a Leatherman Wave as part of my daily "system". I'd be interested in seeing this up close.

EDIT: just not sure how "blingy" the bracelets are.

sand_man 01-26-2015 08:21 AM

might be on the choochie side:

BlueSkyJaunte 01-26-2015 10:30 AM

I'd sign up for a watch-band version. Probably not the plain bracelet, though. That's what I have pockets for.

And I would really want to be able to put my own watch in it. I think it would work great with my Seiko Orange Monster.

vash 01-26-2015 10:49 AM

what would be awesomely ironic is if one of the screws on the band came loose and you needed the screw driver on the band..but you cant reach the screw..and you...argh!!

hey, look at the time! it's 9:11!

Thought about that.

Seems the slots in the screws may be big enough that a coin, maybe a dime would work. Certainly deep and beefy enough that something could be improvised.
