I always encounter fruit flies at the Sushi places. Only when I put my glasses on. :)
Is this normal?

A must-see film as well. Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011) - IMDb

Caught Jiro film on Netflix this morning. Quite good thanks! I now know I like Akami tuna.

Uni? Maybe the Uni I had was bad. It tasted like how you would imagine the smell of stale urine would taste http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/a_pukey.gif

But I love sushi. Here's my lunch from a place in Japantown in San Jose, CA.

maguro, sake, futomaki and some sort of yellowtail?

Any time you're in a decent mid to fine sushi place, as if they have Toro. If they do, then don't pass it up. It's like finding USDA Prime at Costco.

I like chilled creamy sake, but not the clear stuff. Saki seems like the appropriate drink with Sushi.

Yeah the good new age sake (pronounced "S ah Keh") is usually served cold. There is a really sweet pomegranite sake too. I usually go for a beer such as Asahi.

Yeah, I tend to go with Asahi or Kirin, but my wife loves the unfiltered cold sake.

Sushi

After living in Japan for 4 years and enjoying it fresh, it's still a surprise to find it really fresh of course. But lots of good options on left coast. Ask for Nemo by name! :o)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1423610861.jpg

At my local Publix grocery store I always ask my Sushi chef Sunni to make me a fresh tuna seaside out shushi plate. The tuna was exceptional!

.
When we score fresh Ahi, my daughter rolls perhaps half of it up into sushi rolls. But she needs to be quick about it ..

When we're in Cali, Mikuni's Train Wreck is pretty darn good, too.
