shipping a large couch from Ohio to Florida.....need some insight. ..
My in laws have a pretty much brand new sectional couch they want to give to my wife and i.
it's perfect barely used, and fairly expensive..... i need to get it from the Cleveland area to Orlando...... what are my options to have it shipped on the cheap? I've heard of friend having furniture shipped from new York to cali for 150 bucks..... any thoughts?

Call moving companies and look for a partial load coming your way.
Often times moving trucks have extra space. |

sounds challenging.
i'd sell it and send you the cash. i cant imagine this is going to be inexpensive.

Shouldn't be terrible
When I had an empty rental in TX and the family was still living in NY my inlaws in FL bought new living room couches and shipped me their old Was under $200 IIRC |

Think a mover going to Florida may be the least expensive assuming you don't need it there any time soon. Might try freightquote.com? You'll probably need to wrap the sectionals up in plastic at the very least. I would also look into attaching them to pallets. It will make it easier and safer to transport LTL. Problem is you might need a whse at the other end? I've used them for commercial work and they have saved me thousands.

Wasn't there a reality show called Shipping Wars. They profiled brokers that bid on several loads from a company called U-Ship.
You can try them.

IMO unless the valuable compels you to rent a truck and get it yourself the couch is not worth the expense of shipping. Used furniture is penny's on the dollar.

Unless this has sentimental value, i'd not bother. Sell and buy locally. Most furniture made now is disposable.

You're going to have to have the couches bagged up and well protected. The cheapest would be to find a backhaul, but from Ohio to Orlando is a stretch. You might try Old Dominion freight line. They'll take a lot longer but cost a fraction of a moving company.

Good luck with that. We used to ship tons with ODFL at my old job. Like truckloads per day, and for crates smaller than a couch they wanted close to 1k to ship that far, and they almost always got some damage in transit. If you can get it for a few bills via a moving company you are way better off.
