None. But I don't have a dog.
|
Doing some work once for an old Italian lady who had a bitza from a pup. The old woman barely spoke English and all she spoke to her dog was italian. I told the dog to sit and he wouldn't. She told him to sit in Italian and he sat. Then she pipes up with "he doesn't speak English"....

A lot of them, but almost all about things he likes (food, toys, car, etc.).
Come to think of it, I know he knows "get" and "move" - he just doesn't respond to them. It's not that the old dogs can't learn the new tricks, they just don't care. |
Our beagle knows his name. He may know sit or he may just get tired of standing there and sits out of boredom.
Our labs did pretty well. Our first one could infer what you meant and got close most times. |
I'd estimate that my dog can understand about 1000 words.
But he's completely deaf ....... |

Come on guys. Labrador owners be truthful, Lab's only understand one word FOOD.

Three?
Bacon Squirrel Bacon-Squirrel Although I have never done it, it would be funny to yell squirrel in an off-leash park to see what happens. |
Bill, in my experience with two beagles and two labs the beagle is far more glutinous than a lab.
Of the two labs from different lines, one was far smarter than the other and a far better hunter but not as good as a retriever. She would bring the game back so I could see the had it. If my wife was near she would give the game to her, or if we were at home she would throw it at the front picture window to show my wife. It took serious bribery to get he to drop game with me. If it were mice or ground squirrels it was no problem, she would drop them at my feet and wait for her reward. The current one will bring a toy and drop it at my feet and if I can't reach it I can tell her to bring it closer and she does. Since dad can't bend over very well she will put the fake duck in his hand to play. She does not fetch game which is a shame since she had the best nose of any dog I have ever interacted with. She was born blind so that may have something to do with it, but she has very good eyesight in one eye now. |
My Border collie can speak several languages but spell in English only. She can look happy sad and GUILTY. My German Pinscher only knows two words CAR!! and BED!! and is expressionless except she always looks like she's going to eat somebody.
Can someone, (someone smarter than me) provide a link so we'all here can watch the sad hungry talking dog on youtube (titled Hungary talking dog)??. It is a joy to watch and will make your day if you haven't seen it. Please can someone set it up for us?? |

So..the guy goes into a pet store ands wants something different. Owner sez "I got a talking dog here for $10,000.00" Sure enough the dog talks! Buys dog, takes him to bar...bartender sez "get that dog outta my bar" Guy with the dog sez "This dog can talk" Bartender sez BS! Thinkin' he could get some of his dog investment back on a big wager, owner of the dog sez "Betcha $5000.00 this dog can talk" .....the moneys on the bar... "Ok tell him to talk" from the dog.... silence. Bartender takes the money waged & throws the man & the dog out in the street. Man sez " why didn't you say something..anything, do you know you just cost me another 5 grand? Dog sez " now wait a minute......think of the odds we can get in there tomorrow night" !

Years ago I saw a thing on TV where there was a dog show or something and they had put a small speaker in the puppy dogs enclosure. A couple of girls about aged about six walked past and "the puppy" asks them if they are having a fun day etc. The little girls are absolutely dumbfounded that the puppy can talk, and have quite a good chat with him. A bit later they come back with their parents to show them the talking puppy and of course it says nothing LOL.
