Sebring 12 Hours- Who's going???

Here is a taste of what's to come;

I had to drive to Miami today and went thru Sebring on my way back to Tampa. I stopped in the track to buy my ticket (and saved $15 ;)) and several teams were testing. Good thing I brought my Nikon. It was nice to be able to drive anywhere with no crowds at all.

The factory team was there and they have repaired the cars after Daytona...

Ok it ain't pretty but it is fast. This was the Daytona pole sitter. The Krohn Racing Ligier JS P2-Judd braking into turn 3.

And the Daytona winning Ganassi Racing Riley-Ford. I'm thinking this is a test car. No marking or numbers.

I am planning to go. Was originally going to camp for a couple of days, track side, but my family (who still lives in Sarasota) is planning a suprise 70th birthday party for my dad that weekend, so I might only be there for the race on Saturday.

I am planning to go down for at least Saturday. Last few trips down have been banzai 14 hour road trips. Didn't go last year and understood they changed the fence line making taking photos harder. Is this true?

I haven't noticed any fences being moved.

Think I read a conversation in a canon photo forum about spectator fencing being moved. Either in the panning thread or another motorsports thread. Basically the poster stated that it would be harder for the average fan to get a good photo now because of the fencing being changed.

I belong to that forum too. I'll look for it tonight.

Think I found it here:

That thread is from last year. There have been no fence changes in years. There were a few other comments in that thread I wouldn't exactly agree with. Parking on Saturday morning? You better be there on Friday or you'll be parking outside and walking in.

I arrived there in 2005 early on Saturday morning after a 14 hr non-stop banzai run and was able to park inside around the Panoz tent. Every other time I usually had to park in outside parking/camping.

Last time I went was 2013 and I had a great time.

By a twist of fate I'm staying in the hotel outside the front gate this week. There doesn't seem to be a lot going on. I would love to be here to see a race.

Sebring is one of the best races to go to. The race itself is great to watch, but I always enjoy the other festivities that go on around the track. One of the venders has some of the best Philly cheesesteaks around. There are usually a few oddballs who dress up (either as cows, cross-dressers, pirates, etc) and walk around the track. You have the starting line walk before the race with the cars and the beautiful flag girls. There is a bikini competition. And to top it off, tons of car corrals.
