At The Speed of Light...Not really That Fast

Nice read.

Sent it to get finished up - I just didn't have the bandwidth the put in another day. I was in Nashville all week freezing my tail off but at least the truck is done and running - my friend appreciated the cataloguing of parts. Made his job easier. He ended up taking off the AC unit anyway. He also thanked me for not taking off the distributor completely! I said that I didn't in respect to him...little did he know I never had an intention of taking it off anyway!
Thanks for your help...now if I could just figure out how to take the darn time chain cover off the MB without pulling the engine! I think I will have to take off the oil pan and pump - I have conflicting bits of info. MB service says you don't have too, threads elsewhere says its a must. That engine has busted two socket extensions, stripped two Allen bolts and snapped a box wrench! Freaking thing is a tool eater... and I still have grease under my fingernails! Let me know if you need to hide for a few hours some Sunday...there is always fun to be had and tools to break on that enigma... |
I'll send a note to my "Uncle" in Germany who we got the 190 from.
If any one knows how to pull the chain cover without yanking the engine he will. Oh yeah, wear gloves.;) |

Great vid and concept but... If you could build a space craft that could accelerating continuously at 1G it would takes about one year to get to 99% of the speed of light.
Of course the obvious problem is propulsion and fuel. How could you ever carry enough fuel or what could you use besides on board fuel? Assuming you solved all of the problems then you have to slow down again so that would take another year at 1G. If we could also invent "Inertia Dampers" we could accelerate and decelerate much faster than 1G. But the science also get's strange at close to the speed of light. (time and mass) Honestly it's all too hard right now but in a thousand years who knows? "Assuming that 1 g = 10 m/s^2 and that c = 300,000,000 m/s, we get: v = a t t = v / a t = 300,000,000/10 = 30,000,000 seconds or 347.222 days."* *Formula copied from another web site. |

dark matter and/or dark energy offer the power but we have no idea how |
