Build Your Own Torque Wrench - It's Just That Easy

I thought many of you gearheads and tool whores might appreciate this parody. Through the magic of the interwebs, I stumbled onto this gem while searching for a new wrench. I think I shall build one of these instruments of accuracy to tighten my 911 valve covers; no more doing it by feel for me!

Sir, please step away from the motorcycle

mikesride 02-21-2015 05:15 AM

Pretty funny! I love the glue stick!

widgeon13 02-21-2015 05:32 AM

Holy crap!

assembly tape, thought that was duct tape.

sand_man 02-21-2015 05:50 AM

His explanation of "torques" is funny! And I had no idea that "titanium rod" and "aluminum plate" were so easy to cut with Swiss Army Knife scisors!

herr_oberst 02-21-2015 06:06 AM

"Blue Electrical Tape"

"Epoxy Tape"

"Standard Assembly Tape"

I guess I have another internet time waster. Thanks, Sand Man!

Bugsinrugs 02-21-2015 07:00 AM

Metric nut adapters......translation: vice grips. I like it.

Oh Haha 02-21-2015 07:52 AM

Is this guy serious?

Watched some of his other videos and have to wonder. Check out the turn signal vid for some real laughs!

Doesn't he have any new "assembly" tape?

Shaun @ Tru6 02-21-2015 08:07 AM

ok, that was funny.

+1

loved the CCW tightening/torqueing. -was a nice touch. as was the Ti tube ...cut down to 2.1cm for accuracy.

motion 02-21-2015 10:30 AM

Very ingenious. Gotta watch a few others. Nice find!

Shaun @ Tru6 02-21-2015 10:32 AM

I like 3:00 to 3:07

rusnak 02-21-2015 10:47 AM

Way too funny! Thanks for posting that!

bkreigsr 02-21-2015 02:23 PM

the red precision needle looks curiously like the snorkel tube on my WD-40
who knew?
he must have used the same manual to make his hacksaw :D

Jerome74911S 02-21-2015 02:38 PM

Hilarious. With those nice fat markings on his torque scale plate he will no doubt have precise torques for everything, but I have to think that if he would just wing it he would get the torques even more precise. Now I have to watch and learn more.

surflvr911sc 02-21-2015 03:50 PM

Holy Hell, I am going to waste so much time w/ this guy.

Anybody see the aluminum polishing and the ultra sonic cleaner? Bad A$$!

The Christmas special was good, but don't forget about how to cook a delicious corndog.

Shaun @ Tru6 02-21-2015 03:52 PM

Are all manuals from Australia upside down?

David 02-21-2015 03:57 PM

Pretty funny, I especially like how he tightens the bolt to spec by turning it to the left :)

LWJ 02-21-2015 09:26 PM

That is high humor. Outstanding!

aigel 02-21-2015 10:53 PM

HAHA! Assembly tape! I also love how he points out what color the zip ties need to be ... and I also caught the left handed threads on all those bolts!

Thanks for sharing.

HA! Yeah, the unchewed "epoxy" did seem to suspiciously resemble a Chiclette!

bri450sl 02-22-2015 06:53 AM

OMG. Is the guy serious? Even in this video, it shows how flawed the device works!

berettafan 02-22-2015 08:12 AM

How wild is it that Saturday Night live would be improved by playing these things.

LakeCleElum 02-22-2015 03:56 PM

He's gonna put Harbor Tools out of business

LEAKYSEALS951 02-22-2015 04:24 PM

so my bad a$$ meter is finished and calibrated! :D

(I've watched it 3 times.. gets better each time)

ficke 02-23-2015 05:13 AM

That is one of the best instructional videos I have seen on youtube!

Craig T 02-23-2015 06:38 AM

Blahahah!

I love the "lead BB's". Looked like .357 full metal jackets to me. :D

RF5BPilot 02-23-2015 06:41 AM

I have never seen "mechanic's humor" that wasn't slapstick. This is brilliant.

yel911 02-23-2015 06:51 AM

Notice the "spork" on the bench??? That video was classic!!

aschen 02-23-2015 06:52 AM

I love the dry delivery, It took me a min or two to realize he wasnt serious
