Car Stories | Porsche Unveils Modern Navigation For Classic Design
someone send this to me but I am not a big fan of nav. systems. I never use it in my modern cars but for those who use their 911 in unknown places, it might have some benefits. I don't think I ruin my old car with that thing since a phone is just as good, that does get used sometimes. |
Ruin how? It fits in the factory radio slot.
But yes, I use my phone for nav over the nav system in the Camry. Mostly because I can't figure out how to use the nav system in the car and too lazy to read the book manual. :D |
I thought I was the only one who can't figure it out how to really use it. Manual??
I managed to get it working twice, but then could not get her to shut up. The one time I need to use it and I can't get her to give me the time of day. :D I guess some may see that as a good thing. :D
I do use the map function on my phone, but never the voice direction thing. It will drive me nuts. I am wondering if its a male voice, would it make a difference? "Turn right, no no, right here you dumb fcuk."
Only $5000!
Looks cool but it would only really suit the 964/993 cars IMO. (and that screen is small)
What's need is an old school looking radio only that accepts and iPhone or USB drive. If you have to have navigation get something that can be mounted into your sun visor. |
but its made by Porshee
I have one in the company car, a 2015 Honda Accord, That whole Nav/stereo/bluetooth/CD/ system is next to impossible to adjust, and don't forget that it distracts me every time I turn on the right turn signal by tossing a rear view camera image on the screen as i'm slowing down for the turn....it always takes my attention to the dash screen, and away from where i'm going.
I like the fact that it blends with the dash design, but it seems rather pointless to me. I have a $30 iPhone suction cup mount for my windshield, giving me a top notch always updated GPS in any car that I drive.
I want one to replace the fugly aftermarket stereo in my 964.

I was looking into a Blau, but this new unit from Porsche just looks so right in the 90s-vintage dashboard.

~$1350, based on the exchange rate. I hope dedicated US pricing is better.
I'd buy one. I have a Clarion in there now (that's what was there when I bought the car) so this would be an upgrade. But I certainly wouldn't pay full pop for a brand new one.

You're probably right, but I think it looks better than what was probably in the car from the factory, maybe something like this...
