oncedriven.com? Ever heard of them?
 

I am trying to sell my 2011 Mustang GT Convertible so I listed it in craigslist and cars. A few days later, I received a call from a man saying that he wants to be my representative in selling the car through his firm oncedriven.com. I call back and there is a wait list of callers 17 people deep. I call another time the same. Finally I call early in the morning and get through. She explains they will list my vehicle on their site and there is a moneyback guarantee of $189, they list the car for 45 days. She said they have people who are looking for my car and they just want to make the deal happen, no risk to me.

It sounded too good to be true, so I investigated, and there are MANY complaints listed on the internet with VERY few comments saying they actually sold the vehicle through their listing. I also learned that the money back guarantee is ONLY if I sell the vehicle before the 45 days. So, in order for this to be a good transaction, either they have to sell my car or I have to sell my car. If nothing happens, they win. Doesn't sound like much of a deal for me!

Anyone have any positive experience with them?

I don't like the sound of them . Read the fine print. Sounds like a legalized scam to me.The last time I sold a car through an intermediary many years ago was through consignment. From now on I will only deal directly with a buyer or seller and no intermediaries for me.

I play with cars and I've never heard of them. Craigslist, AutoTrader, Cars.com. Those are the main legit places to sell a newer car.

FYI - a search of their site shows a total of 11 Porsches listed nationwide. 6 Audis. That's about all I need to know. Buyers go where the cars are. Sellers need to go where the buyers are.

My experience has been , that if you have the car priced right, and are willing to deal with potential buyers, it will sell, be it craigslist, autotrader, or e bay . No need for a third party .

A simple google search brings up all kinds of complaints about them.

I recently got the same call when I listed a 1968 Chevy pick-up on craigslist.

The guy on the recorded message sounds nice , but two red flags for me-

-I know the market for vintage trucks is small, and his message was too generic
-The phone never rang. I just got the tone that I had a voicemail.

As I was going out of town for a couple days, I cancelled the ad, and a few days later, got another tone that I had a voicemail. This time the message was something about I've been advertising for a while now, and could use their help.

I'm not about to pay anybody up front to sell a car/truck. Commission once it is sold? Fine. but paying somebody to list it for me makes no sense.

Anybody want a 1968 Chevy? Time to advertise it again.

So he finds your add, and for a fee offers you more exposure and he has people wanting your car but they are unable to find your add with out his help......This must be a Miracle

One more thing... you're selling a convertible in NJ in winter. If you can wait a couple of months you'll find more locals looking for ragtops.

LeeH - Yes, absolutely, there is a good market for the car but spring is when to hit it hard. Right now, I am just trolling.

I agree with all, they provide a completely useless service as far as I can tell. Pay them $189 for something that other sites do free or substantially cheaper. If they do nothing and it doesn't sell it they get the money.

Plus, I routinely go to about 5-6 sites looking for cars, never heard of this site.

Total scam, as are all of those "sell your car" services.
