Anyone on Fort Worth, TX?
I'd rather keep quiet about why I'm asking, but can anyone in Forth Worth suggest a few nice areas to live that would have a short commute to downtown, even during rush hour? Schools would not be an issue.
How bad would it be living in Arlington and working downtown? Is Arlington a stable area? Are there liveable areas in downtown? I'm blown away by how cheap real estate is. Its looks like the foreclosures have still not quite shaken out. Any thoughts appreciated. |

Gimme a buzz tomorrow if you want. Will PM the number. EDIT: the prices are not due to foreclosures. That's what it costs down here. You can build a great house from the ground up fOR $100 per sq ft. Amazing resales as low as $75 per sq ft. Commuting sucks no matter where you live. These people can't drive to save their lives. |
I can't offer any valuable insight, other than that fact that I LOVE the DFW area. I have family in Rowlett and visit often. It's my favorite big city, and one of the few places I would consider moving to. If you're considering relocation, I hope it works out.

Arlingtoon can be touch and go - traffic can be a bear going into FW depending upon where you are, also some parts of town are better then others. There are plenty of really nice burbs though. I always wondered what it would be like to actually live in the city. Could be fun. I like FW over Dallas.

I'm with Mike.
FW over Dallas hands down. |
I live in FT Worth, Arlington to FtW can be trying but towns to the west are better, search Aledo .
The area west of downtown Arlington Heights has access to some of the best dining, museums & entertainment in the world ( the only ones questioning that don't live here so keep it a secret) not to mention you will be closer to the tracks for DE. Want to really get uptown look at Westover Hills (Bass family) or Westworth Village. I could go on but you get the idea. |
If it's anything like San Antonio, a big part of why real estate prices are low is because they make up for it with property tax.

there are some things I really like about the fort worth side of DFW, and then there are other things that make me feel glad I live in dallas. I use to own a business in down town, and I still own several properties in fort worth. the best thing about ft. worth, its cheap. what I dont like about that side of DFW is the traffic, the infrastructure does not support the population boom that they have experienced in recent years.

Ft Worth proper has a lot of beautiful neighborhoods. No real need to go to the burbs unless you want a smaller town.
