GSDs are high strung, and can be protective, but usually only in the presence of its handler/master when excercized properly.

The first bite incident years before should have been a clue.

The deputy probably smelled and tasted like a doughnut.

A sheriff friend of mine told the story of a local K-9 dog that was named Ranger. The handler used German commands on the dog since it was German Shepard. Of course no is nein!

One of the local TV stations is Channel 9. Their helicopter is called Ranger 9. The dog was very confused when that station was on and the reporter kept saying Ranger nein over and over. They had to change the station.
