Online Parts

Is eating the cost of shipping normal for defective parts?

My scenario: I ordered a part, and the part became defective within a month. I paid for shipping, and would have paid for shipping back a core, but hadn't returned one yet. I was cool with that, but now I have to pay to return the failed part I bought.

The vendor only has one left, and I can't fathom why I should be stuck with the cost of shipping times 3 should the replacement also fail.

The guy I talked with on the phone said, "It's how things are buying parts on the internet, imagine if you had to go to the parts store and spend the time and gas to buy the same part. You'd have to pay for that.".

I was speechless. I expected to hear him say there will be an issuance of a call tag for the part.

This isn't a fly by night company either. I'm beside myself.

Certainly not my Pelican experience*.

If it was yours, escalate. Pelican has always done the right thing by me.
If it wasn't Pelican, then include that in your post. Pelican indulges us by providing this forum, remember we are Wayne's guests here.

* Pelican still came to the party when the issue was entirely my fault for not reading the fine print, I've always been impressed by the service.

I don't know if it's a normal practice or not, and it wasn't Pelican.

Got a new phone from my provider.

Had a defect.

Sent it back.

This month my bill came in $21.00 higher.

Figured it had something to do with the return.

Called them up, rep says it was the return shipping of the defective device.

Then he says "I'm sensing a request coming here"

I laughed.

He waived it.

I thanked him.

That's how it should go.

That's what I was expecting. No can do.

Failure of this part can result in serious injuries, not only to myself, but also others. They didn't seem to care. They just wanted me to pay to send it back and we will see if I might get a good one next time.

Can you post the company name? There's so many online choices to order parts, it's hard sometimes to choose. My first choice is Pelican, but if they do not have what I'm looking for or carry the part, I have to take my chances and order elsewhere. I would like to know who NOT to order from.

That's ridiculous. You should shop elsewhere.

Does it rhyme with mock blotto?

No, it rhymes with cock hot toe.

I hate calling out businesses, but I learned my lesson.
