'70s Buick Commercial with 911

Does anyone remember an older (late 70s I think, could be 80s) TV commercial that featured possibly Buick comparing itself to a 911 Turbo?

Ring any bells for anyone? Seen a version on YouTube?

Not the one you are looking for but a Buick commercial none the less. -J

IIRC, the intercooled cars. part of '85, '86 and '87 GNs were faster than a 930 0-60 (The one in the video is a "hot air" (non-intercooled '84 and early '85 model) They are painfully slow.

I've never actually seen the commercial. My father-in-law insists it was a Buick commercial that featured a 930 possibly in Minerva blue in comparison.

I'm contacting the Buick Museum in Flint to see if they can help me:

The Buick Grand National was faster than corvettes in 0-60 and 1/4 mile back in the day. Darn quick cars.

Finally found it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdoYeboKEjE

That's a '76 930 in the beginning of the ad.

Cool.

The old Buick plant is about 10 miles from our place. I had a cousin who worked on the GNs back in the day.

My FIL worked on them as well but wasn't a car guy so didn't really care about the value.

I've had a couple non GN turbo Regals. The one I had back in the 90's was a 12 second car with just a chip and a cat bypass pipe. I had no business driving a car like that in my early 20's but I survived.

So this reminded me of another commercial, but can't remember what it was for. It was about a guy taking his more pedestrian car to PCA track events. What was that a commercial for?

The Minerva Blue 930 in the commercial I found was actually owned by Buick at the time. Kind of a reverse engineering thing GM/Buick was doing on Turbos. I wish I could find an old picture with the 930 in test mode. Buick bolted a large taxi roof-like speed/rpm/boost gauge (?) on the roof so it could be seen from outside the car.

"The Wizardry of Turbos" is a great line.
