Kudos!
For bringing this grand old shotgun back from the abyss! From the looks of the locks and trigger plate it had been "a while" since they had seen any oil or cleaning! Now it will be around for another hundred years. You should put your name somewhere inside so the next gunsmith will know who saved it the last time!

I wasn't the first one in sadly. That plate screw is buggered badly..I don't think anybody went any further though.

As always a pleasure to view these. I have a question on the rust. Would something like Evapo-rust work to get rid of the rust in places a brass brush won't reach or is it not that big of a deal once the parts are coated again?

Evapo-rust works well, but be careful as it will remove bluing as well. I use naval jelly as well.

I forgot about it removing bluing and browning or any iron oxide finish for that matter. I was thinking for the parts you showed here like the trigger assembly and such. I suppose if you are going to re-blue.

yeah, that works good. I like to try to get to all those nooks and crannies by hand if I can. Just me I guess,
