Off topic car question
Have any of you seen the new trend on rice rockets to set up their wheels with 40 degrees of negative camber? What is the purpose? They must handle like crap.
|
Hella flush is the purpose.
|
If 2 degrees of negative camber is good, then 40 degrees must be way gooder!
|
It makes it look like that favorite HotWheels® car that they loved from their youth. It had been mashed from being stepped on regularly so the wheels were bent up at a pooched angle. They also want to sleep with it in their bed as they suck their thumbs.
--- The trend isn't that new. They have been doing that stuff in Japan for almost a decade. In the ricer scene there is a long history of doing things as "performance" modifications that makes the "performance" SO GOOD that the car is undriveable and has to crawl over crowns in the road let alone (god forbid) enter a driveway! The whole bit where people setup a Porsche with enough ground clearance that they can go warp 9 through a non tarmac ralley stage really shows how Porsche people just have no clue about performance!!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat5.gif |
I don't get it. A kid with a Boxster has one like that here in town with some stuffed cartoon character hanging off the bottom. I enjoy my Boxster as stock and can only imagine how lousy this kid's car must ride and handle.

Clearly we are all just old and "don't get it."

It's not for me either, but can't knock the guys for doing something different to their cars. I wouldn't every buy one but I like the RWB stuff too. https://youtu.be/s0MDY9fl-IA |
It is so you can spot morons easier, and plan accordingly.

ask your boy from RWB Nakai san... he is the one that started doing that back in the 90s when he was all Toyota. Same reason he used smaller tires.... so they work when you are sliding around a mountain turn down hill and sideways ... it was for function... now its style
|
Form follows function.

That tiny cartoon character hanging off the back bumper indicates that he is looking for a race. Most likely for money. Just a bit of negative camber on the backside of a 911 will get you a tight relationship with the local tire store. Perhaps on the back side of a fwd there may not be much effect.

Used to be that the dolls/toys hanging from the car were to sate ghosts that populate the cities of Asia (they're big into ghosts there). By giving the ghosts something to play with, they'll leave the drivers alone. |
