Well here's a non-S: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/d/san-francisco-2009-porsche-911-carrera/7151938722.html at $30K.
There was an S that I had my eye on before Covid. Was texting the owner and was about to go see it, then Covid hit and he stopped posting his ad. He posted it a few weeks ago but it expired I guess, or he sold it. 997.2 S, tracked, 90K miles, upgraded wheels, Vorsteiner(?) and upgraded exhaust Pfister(?), $42.5K. |

That ones gone!
I think I’ll have to swallow it and buy a silver one if I want to get one under 30. Certainly not many cars out there in other colors! And I agree, the quality of cars is better on the forums. But I’m willing to buy a bit of a project for the right price. Hell, fixing a few things is half the fun. |

There’s a nice 6spd cab in AZ at a good price right now on FB. It’s what got me thinking about a 997 and not a 996. Id have already pulled the trigger on it if we hadn’t just started refinancing the house! Gotta wait until that’s done first. |

Be patient.
Wait for a 997 6 speed...especially if you plan to drive it a lot. Better to be going 40mph in 2nd gear in a stick, than going 120 mph in an automatic Last edited by Ziggythecat; 07-08-2020 at 07:47 AM.. |

And it's back: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/campbell-2009-porsche-911-carrera-9972/7154772082.html now down to 41K. I think it should be below 40.
I would love to get a manual, but I would like my wife to be able to drive it so I'm looking for a PDK. |

Just for a data point, I passed on a 100k mile 2010 997.2 S 6-speed manual in the exact same geographical location, (Saratoga), one year ago for $39k. It was white w black interior, sport chrono and most other options and not tracked. It needed brakes and tires yesterday.
I paid for a PPI from GMG, (Syncroid on Pelican), and drove all the way up w a friend to grab it and then backed-out after seeing and driving it. It was ok but had a big scratch on the hood that the guy failed to mention and he also omitted telling me about the bald tires and paper thin brake pads before I drove 400 miles. The whole thing put a bad taste in my mouth and I just didn't feel like handing over nearly 40 large to this mook. I drove a block away, pulled over and called the guy to tell him I was passing on it. Felt great. Asked my friend if he wanted the best steak in Monterey and hit the road. Got back to LA around midnight. I passed on a 2009 997.2 non-S 6-speed w normal miles, (don't remember exact miles), silver/black sport chrono that had been resprayed due to a storm dropping branches on it-top quality job and clean title for $31k about 4 or 5 years ago. That one sold fast.

I should clarify that the PPI caught the bald tires and brakes, (but not the deep scratch down to bare metal), it all sort of happened at once if memory serves, i.e. driving up to grab it and getting the PPI done while driving, etc. The fact that the seller withheld such pertinent info and then would not adjust price made me walk, even though it was decent price. The car just did not blow me away.

Current market has made this thread a bit of an oxymoron. I bought my 997 in 2011 with 30K miles on it. Today with 70K miles on the clock, I can get 5K more than I paid for it in 2011. Crazy times.

I guess that's why the thread died (or at least was in a coma)... Someone was selling a 53K mi black 997.2S for 50K in Thousand Oaks about a month ago, but my wife dissuaded me from flying, thinking I could find one locally. Dammit!
There was a 97K mi white one on the PCA Classifieds for $49K, and of course, someone beat me to it as I was about a 2 hour drive away. |

I’d think with bore scoring they would be cheaper than 996. I guess it’s a worse problem in terms of prevention but hasn’t got the fear mongering publicity as IMS bearing?

Ok talk me out of a 997.2S w/ 47K miles for $60K.... besides the "we're in a bubble" argument.

It might be going down, finally.
https://www.autotrader.com/marketplace/buy/porsche/911/2010/WP0AB2A94AS720625?listingId=676895367 I'd have seriously considered this and checked it out had I not gotten a 991. |
