Anyone familiar with the Cote-Nord, QC?
I'm interested in the Outardes drainage, and especially Outardes-4.
We are considering this as a fishing destination this year but I'm having trouble getting information. I know there is a ZEC below Outardes-4. I know there is a campground and access at Manicouagan. Does anyone know what's up with the river / reservoir between these? It appears to be public land, so I'm assuming we can camp. I'm looking for access to launch boats. We aren't novices at this - my family has done it yearly since at least the late 40's. I've been doing it for 40 years. We usually go west - to the Gouin or above the La Verendrye park. We have good boats and camping gear. We can handle breakdowns.I can get by with my high school level french. I'm mostly concerned that we can launch the boats (rough is ok, anywhere we can back a 4x4 to the water), and that we aren't intruding on an outfitters concession, native reserve or other restricted land. I've tried emailing the local tourism office, Hydro Quebec and the DNR. It has been a week with no response. Email because my French isn't really good enough for detailed phone conversations. I will try calling this week if I don't get any information. Thanks guys! |

You have four or five months to figure this out while the ice melts...

Ice and snow are good.
Snow to keep the beer cold. Ice for the drinks. |
