TBA, You won't get any points for that. I live in Cambridge where they ticket anything. I once got a ticket on my motorcycle for parking in between two spaces...WTF. Here I was trying to be helpful and I get nailed.

I'm assuming that parking more than a foot away from the curb is a different offense than double parking. I'd think the penalty for double parking would be much more than $20. So it seems like he could have leveled a much stiffer fine, and chose not to. I'm with these guys. Pay the fine and move on.

I would put this type of behavior into the same class as line cutting. Around our WashDC beltway and other byways, we endure long lines at some of the exits. Yet, some folks believe their time is more valuable, or that rules and courtesy don't apply to them. They drive all the way to the head of the line and then cut in, expecting others to yield to them. Of course, this just causes further delays for those of us waiting patiently for our turn to exit.

So pay your fine and quit complaining. You broke the law and you were discourteous to other drivers. You deserve it!

Cool

IMO, it ain't the $20..it's the principal of the thing.. TBA, if the ticket bugs you make the bully earn its fee..I think if a guy got picked out of a herd of cars all doing 5mph over the speed limit because he has a lettered Carrera w/tail some attitudes would change quickly..no right and wrong/just a game...........Ron

"I dont know you, i dont know who you are, or what you do....but did you get ahead in life (if so) by playing by the rules? by being honest and considerate all the time? by being courteous and responsible? did you get ahead by not having the attitude of "me first"? isn't this just the competitive society we're living in? dont be so judgemental my friend over such a little thing."

Sorry, I am not a member of the "in your face, me first" society. I believe courtesy counts in a big way. But it's gotta be both ways. This may be small to you, but it's probably an indicator - particularly given your response. So, I remain very judgemental! And rightfully so, I believe.

You double parked and got tagged. Nothing to fight or complain about other than your poor luck that day. $20 is cheap. My family met me for lunch in Old Town about 1 year ago. They parked in a two hour zone for 30 minutes. Returning to the car we are greeted with a $45 "over posted time limit" ticket. Thing is there no way to fight that. Sure its the principle but that $45 will grow (not to mention my blood pressure) taking into account the earning lost trying to fight it...no thanks.

Its one of life's fustrating nuances that you just have to deal with. I'll bet things like this, or combinations there of, that push some people over the edge where they do something they will really regret. Deep breath in, deep breath out, repeat 5 times.

"in your face, me first"

double-parking for a minute to run in and grab some food (after cruising the block for 10 minutes trying to find a place to park) has nothing to do with whatever you're talking about....
I was never incourteous to anyone...it was on a side street with barely any traffic...that's where the "responsible double-parking" comes in.

don't give me a moral lesson, patalive, and don't blow this up into some kind of "in your face, me first" attitude society thing. As i said before, you dont know me, i dont know you, and we'll leave it at that. have a nice day.

I believe there is "responsible" double parking. I live in Chicago (in the city, not burbs), and I often times double park to go pick up my wife from work. Her office is in a once industrial area turned residential. So it's on a side street, never going to stop any traffic. In the evenings, there's seldom parking. Cops have passed by my car numerous times, while double-parked, and never looked twice. If this was the burbs, I'm sure I'd have been ticketed several times for this.
Now, if someone double parks on a busier street, and even slightly affects traffic, then that's not responsible.

But just consider the $20 ticket a "delivery fee" for your lunch. You can't fight it. Hey...you got to drive your Porsche!

Now for New York--after my 1st trip there in September; I realize that people don't know what double parking is until they've been to NYC. It gets taken to a whole different level there.

In Brooklyn, NY, TRIPLE parking is a daily event on 5th Ave. Unbelievable.

Not worth your time or the aggravation to go through the hassel for $20. Pay it and forget it. It's history.
